Sebastian Gorka is resigning his post as Deputy Assistant to President Trump, multiple sources familiar with the situation have told The Federalist.
In a blunt resignation letter, the national security and counterterrorism expert expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of the Trump administration. [G]iven recent events, it is clear to me that forces that do not support the MAGA promise are for now ascendant within the White House, Gorka wrote. As a result, the best and most effective way I can support you, Mr. President, is from outside the Peoples House.
Gorkas letter expressed unhappiness with the direction the Trump administrations foreign policy has taken, as signaled by the presidents recent speech on Afghanistan:
Regrettably, outside of yourself, the individuals who most embodied and represented the policies that will Make America Great Again, have been internally countered, systematically removed, or undermined in recent months. This was made patently obvious as I read the text of your speech on Afghanistan this week
The fact that those who drafted and approved the speech removed any mention of Radical Islam or radical Islamic terrorism proves that a crucial element of your presidential campaign has been lost
Just as worrying, when discussing our future actions in the region, the speech listed operational objectives without ever defining the strategic victory conditions we are fighting for. This omission should seriously disturb any national security professional, and any American who is unsatisfied with the last 16 years of disastrous policy decisions which have led to thousands of Americans killed and trillions of taxpayer dollars spent in ways that have not brought security or victory.
During his time in the Trump administration, Gorka focused on issues such as countering the Muslim Brotherhood, the crisis in Qatar, drafting a new long-term national security strategy, and combatting Chinas economic warfare. Before coming to the White House, Gorka was an editor for national security affairs for Breitbart News, where he worked with Steve Bannon, who also recently departed the administration.
Gorkas tenure at the White House was marked by unusually vociferous attacks against him and his family by left-leaning media organizations and the Democratic Party. This includes personal attacks against his wife, mother, and son.
A source close to the White House said of his decision, This was more or less going to be a done deal when Bannon submitted his resignation. Not because he didnt have a protector, but because there is no point in having your life ruined every day if youre not going to get much accomplished. The same source said that what did change after Bannon left was that anti-Bannon factions began erecting bureaucratic road blocks to undermine Gorka internally.
The Forward has written dozens of attack pieces against Gorka, including several attempting to align him with Nazism. Most recently that publication retracted a story about his sons schoolwork. Gorka strenuously objected to allegations he had ties to Nazi groups in his familys home country of Hungary, where he had previously been involved in national politics. Even detractors eventually acknowledged the Nazi accusations were unfair smears.
In his letter, Gorka made clear that he believes in the promise of the Trump presidency despite being concerned about its present direction.
Your presidency will prove to be one of the most significant events in modern American politics. November the 8th was the result of decades during which the political and media elites felt that they knew better than the people who elect them into office. They do not, and the MAGA platform allowed their voices to be heard, he wrote, adding, Millions of people believe in, and have chosen, you and your vision of Making America Great Again. They will help eventually rebalance this temporary reality.

“but I don’t trust Conway and NEVER have done.”
I understand your distrust. Conway will probably roll with the punches and maintain her position. Besides she is female and the optics would be bad if she got canned.
“To run a government you must have many people, all working for the same goal as the leader.
The fact is we have lost too many people who think as the POTUS does, and in their place, are people who think and work at cross purposes to the POTUS.
We, his base, are alarmed. One lost subordinate, two, three or five .... fine. But it seems as though it has become all of them. Now he is surrounded with ideological enemies”.
You nailed it, Laz. Yes, we are alarmed and rightfully so.
Now I’m waiting for the “You’re a Pearl Clutcher” and “You’re a Concern Troll” attacks.
Gorka is one of the folks I trusted! Always has/had the President’s back! I don’t think this bodes well!
“She (Ivanka) might be in the drivers seat now,”
As long as she and DJT have breath in their bodies, she always will be in the driver’s seat. He can’t survive if she isn’t nearby; she is his oxygen.
When she gave her speech about paid daycare, I figured we were in big trouble.
And my eyes are VERY clear and wide open!
“Waiting for the FR Chess Masters to chime in and explain that this is all part of the secret 9 dimensional chess game that Trump plays all the time.
Sebastian Gorka is gone and Gary Cohn is in. Hmmm. This is beyond my chess pay grade. I need to consult Kasparov.”
ah, yes...and the hackneyed “pearl-clutcher” /”never-Trumper”/”concern troll” assignations to those who might question the resignation of an ardent supporter whose views align with the president, while a vocal left-wing critic remains.
“Millers the last MAGA advocate left. So hell be gone soon.”
Plus, Miller “belonged” to Sessions before he worked for DJT. I don’t see Sessions as being a Trump loyalist, so maybe Steve will return to his first boss.
Very sad...I love Sebastian, he kills CNN.
That WAS English...learn it!
Don’t need a vomitorium; my dinner was NOT that large, nor am I about to eat vast quantities of more food nor desert. ;^)
We agree. :-)
“And McMasters, Cohn and Powell have to go NOW!”
No; they’re the ones sitting in chairs when the music stopped. They were brought in be Javanka and are going nowhere.
“The President’s big mistake was to bring privileged family into the WH who know nothing about mid-America. His boys seem to be OK, but Jared and Ivanka do not have a clue about the heartland”.
You’re absolutely right. They are wealthy liberal elites so that is to be expected. DJT should know better.
Anyone and EVERYONE who still has blinders on and telling others that this doesn't matter, are the ones who are NUTS!
They are extremely close.
I just don’t think she’s qualified to be inserted into such a powerful place.
DITTO
I know a Dolce & Gabbana military flak vest when I see one. HOOAH!

“Thomas Wictor had an interesting point about this man. He has no job title. “Deputy Assistant to President Trump” is a title that can apply to literally thousands of people in the executive branch. “Deputy Assistant” is more of a level in the executive branch rather than a specific title, like “Sr. Accountant.”
The fact that he has such a puzzling title and ill-defined place in the executive branch led Thomas to believe that he is part of the counter-intelligence investigation to find leakers. If so, the fact that he is leaving just means his role in the investigation is now finished, and is just moving on to something else.
“
Good observation by Thomas Wictor.
My guess is he’ll keep Miller to write his rally speeches for him...”the red meat” for the Deplorables.
You’re right.
The Pearl Clutcher and Concern Troll accusors would get their butts kicked tonight.
