A newsletter posted on the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) campus is starting to make the rounds on social media and it states veterans should be banned from four-year universities. Several viewers asked 11 News to look into the origin of the newsletter.
The letter states military veterans should be banned from classes and compares the military culture to white supremacist groups.
The newsletter is titled "Social Justice Collective Weekly" and says it is the first issue. A spokesperson for UCCS said the newsletter has nothing to do with the school and does not represent the institution's views. However, it was approved by the university and posted on a bulletin board. The school says anyone is allowed to post items on the board.
The university explained while this group is not affiliated with the college, they say it is free speech and the group can post what they want.
The article says veterans should be banned from UCCS and other four-year colleges. It also generalizes veterans and says they are unsympathetic to the LGBTQ community. The article says all veterans have far right-wing ideologies.
"They [the authors of the letter] try and talk about inclusion as a principle," said UCCS student Joe Hollmann. "Yet, they're excluding one of the most important members of society, those that are guarding our freedom to even talk about this."
"There's a lot of hate in the world," said fellow UCCS student Caleb Hensley. "You can't fight hate with hate."
All of the students 11 News interviewed on campus disagreed with the stance the letter takes. The newsletter was also in the library and other places, but students have been taking them down.

It appears the town has changed in the last few decades.
I’m corporations, veterans are considered s diversity hire.
> Shouldnt Washington State be ejected from the Several States? <
There most certainly will be a move to erase George Washington from the map. Even Lincoln is not safe. The Left has gone from being outraged, to looking for things to be outraged about.
And so far they’re doing swell. Many wins, a few ties, no losses.
I’m a veteran who went to a 4 year college on the old GI Bill...1979-81..
there were quite a few other veterans in school with me...
colleges welcomed veterans and they were good students..
its a shame and a travesty veterans are not treated the same today...
only un-American anarchists would attack American veterans...
Make no mistake about it.
THIS IS THE LEFT.
The democrat party supports them, even if they won’t come out and say so.
BLM, Antifa, LQGBLT, illegal aliens, psychopaths all!
Come again?
The school says anyone is allowed to post items on the board.
This could get interesting.
The snowflakes fear getting their anti-American asses kicked by Vets.
Yeah, they don’t know what’s in store for them.
That memo will put that Snowflake Kindercare Pretend University on the wrong side of President Trump. He LOVES our veterans; which includes ME. R.A. all the way, baby. And I love him back.
If they did that, I’m sure the Hillsdale ruling would kick in and UCCS would not be allowed to accept government backed funds, even though it’s the students who get them.
EVERYONE should be unsympathetic to the LGBTQ community.
Perverts should not be tolerated.
“Yeah, they dont know whats in store for them”.
And easier than killing a rattle snake.
Where were you in the sixties through the eighties?
Leftist filth have targeted the military for decades. Some documentaries on Vietnam veterans in the mid nineties made them tone it down publicly (while working to destroy the VA behind the scenes) for a couple decades but the hatred towards the military has always been a hallmark of the left.
On the positive side, most veterans, well maybe not Air Force types, (just kidding) are well trained in creating their own safe space.
Really? Then invite some Nazi group to post on the bulletin board.
Yes, it has. In a major way.
The military has also radically changed. Everyone seems to get out with a ‘disability’. If someone has insomnia, they get 30% disability; no joke, 30%, free college.
Disability means college is paid for. I think at least 50% of all veterans I am seeing in school are on “Vocational Rehab”, meaning full tuition paid plus $1,800 per month in cash.
UCCS lives on military Title IV spending for education. CTU down the street lives 95% on Title IV funding.
Title IV is a big industry right now. Most college s live on it.
I hope some veterans help them with their “education”.
This will probably back fire on them.
After Obama became president, I started wearing my US Navy ball cap, shopping, going out for lunch and just wearing around town. Positive comments came from the over 50 age group.
In the last year, my wife and I have noticed how many working millenials, say thank you for your service.
When I get a thank you and my wife is with me, I tell the nice people to thank my wife and the wive’s of every one who served. Their support was critical.
I’m corporations, veterans are considered diversity hire.
