I met this type of Marine many times, usually the dark green variety.
Totally dedicated to their craft and the corps, while at the same time believing that conservatism was a bad, evil thing.
Squared away, no sympathy for “s—tbirds” who didn’t pull their weight, in general living conservative values, but voting “D” because “R” was for racist rednecks.
It puzzled me, but after having my eyes opened by MAGA, I now see that when I voted for McCain and Romney I wasn’t doing conservatism any favors, but that’s not the point.
