And you thought Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor was going to be the biggest brawl this week.
Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers and Austin Romine of the New York Yankees absolutely went at it during a Thursday afternoon game in the Motor City.

Venezuelan did his south of the border bullcrap on the American catcher.
It’s the only action you’ll see in baseball - bench clearing fights. OTT - meh - throw the ball, swing at it, maybe hit it, run to some bag and perhaps stop. (watch George Carlin on Bball vs Football).
Miguel isn’t having a good year...not good to light a short fuse.

Thanks for reminding us that JimRob does allow idiot opinions here on FR.
There was another (not so violent) event later in the game. It just ended. I wish the Yankees had won.
Good thing it was broken up, that catcher was about to lay some bombs on Cabrera’s head. He took him down then got his back.
That “Venezuelan” is going to be a first round Hall of Famer. Romine on the other hand will likely be the answer to a trivia question.
Any idea what started all that?
A nasty play at the plate?
The Tigers are way out of contention for anything.
Could not figure out why they’d be getting into brawls.
Then the answer hit me.
Lloyd McClendon is on the coaching staff.
Throwing bases around and starting fights for entertainment was SOP when he managed the Pirates and they were 20 games out in August.
Austin Romine ducked and dodged punches and undercut..... Got in a lot of rabbit punches. Romine won
Yes, he went at him like a wrestler. Probably a smart idea, considering the fists being thrown.
He was really good. That’s why he fell down from Cabrera’s first punch.
Hockey players everywhere are laughing.
Cabrera is a POS.
He was really good. Thats why he fell down from Cabreras first punch.
Only matters how it ends. It would have ended badly for Miguel.
Cabrera got hit by the pitch, one of four players who were hit during the game.
I was thinking about when Nolan Ryan beat Robin Ventura's ass back in '93.

It started when Tiger starter Fulmer plugged Yankee Sanchez with a fastball. Later, the Yanks plugged Cabrera in retaliation. Then a bunch of Yankess got ejected, and Romine came in to catch.
Later Miggy came to the plate and exchanged some words with Romine. Don’t know what Romine said but it ticked of Miggy enough to throw the first punch. Then a melee ensued.
