This bill provides that anyone can swear out a complaint that another person might be or might become violent in any way and a court can require them to surrender their weapons; any and all weapons, kitchen knives, firearms, sharp sticks, etc.

This is weapons confiscation by degree but using a simple witness to do it. Anyone can swear out a complaint and provide any level of statement such as, "I thought he was going to hurt me", or, "He posted on the Internet something I thought was violent". The bar is extremely low on this bill.

Turn this on them. Swear out complaints (or whatever they want to call it) against scads of liberals. Clog the courts with this stuff. Make them live by their own rules.

“causing injury to another person.”
as written, it excludes anyone who feels that he has the right to self-defense, even if it requires deadly force, (I do) and police officers. To correct it, it needs the clause “except in lawful self-defense and for LEO’s in the lawful carrying-out of their duties.”

But the intention is to prevent non-violent people from protecting themselves and to arrest cops for doing their job.

“Violent” = Raising your voice for emphasis.

If you think I’m kidding you’re not paying attention.

Since Trump’s election it is my opinion that almost every liberal I know is either suicidal or a member of a radical group intent on committing violence. This law should be used to strip all of them of their arms, asap.

No, it doesn’t provide “that anyone” can swear out a complaint. Read the bill which limits those who can swear out a complaint to “A law enforcement officer or a family or household member of a person”.

Hmmm, political jujitsu

Every single gun owner in Oregon should swear out a complaint against a democrat.

We've been accepting pre-crime laws for a long time.

DUI is pre-crime.

Seat belt and helmet laws are pre-???? (what crime again?)

Legislators are quickly losing touch with the whole purpose of laws and what crime even IS.

This law necessitates mind-reading on the part of the police and courts. Perhaps there will be official crystal balls that will provide prima facia evidence of "intent to harm".

How pathetic and disturbing.

BREAKING: Gun Owners FORCED To Forfeit Or Go To Jail After What Dems Just Did Overnight
The crackdown on gun control had come to a screeching halt once Donald Trump took office, but that didn’t stop Democrats from getting their way. Without warning, gun owners are now waking up to horrible news about their Second Amendment right which has just been incredibly infringed upon in a way that’s beyond unconstitutional.

Sneaky liberals plotted against Republicans and surprised everyone with what they were able to pass through the night, forcing law-abiding Americans into confiscation or face jail time.

The old saying goes that “nothing good happens after midnight” and that’s certainly the case as people are realizing what Oregon Governor Kate Brown has just signed into law. The tyrannical governor has just officially made weapons confiscation a reality for those who legally and rightfully purchased their weapons.

Oregon Senate Bill 719 “permits government officials to order the confiscation of guns, simply based off of hearsay evidence,” according to Silence is Consent. “There is no actual evidence required to order this confiscation, and before the gun owner is even given a hearing.”

This detail of the bill also goes against citizens’ 14th Amendment right, which grants Americans the right to a formal hearing before their property is seized.
The anti-Second Amendment bill doesn’t stop there as it aims to make it next to impossible for citizens whose guns were confiscated, to get them back. The process is rigorous, as a law-abiding gun owner must take the issue to court, and like a criminal, prove that they are innocent.

Since the weapons would have been ripped out of their possession without warning anyway, this could be an uphill battle to get it back.

Second Amendment watchdogs at 2A News, explains the bill and the government’s gross overreach.
