12z GFS is slower to eject harvey
the model is out for the next 7 days its still over central TX
with all the rain falling the “brown ocean effect” may come into play..so much water on the ground
This actually allows tropical systems to maintain themselves over land in upper level conditions are right
“Seven counties have mandatory evacuations...last I knew...maybe more by now.”
Great news! WTG Texas. That will save thousands of lives. Until today the media has played it down and it’s almost too late to get out.
No one should evacuate Houston. Local authorities are telling people to shelter in place.
Houston won't get wind ... just a lot of rain. Severe flooding is a given. But where are you going to go to avoid the rain? Austin, San Antonio, and New Orleans are projected to get flooding rains, too.
Good point--similar to the FL Everglades--no solid land interaction to impede hurricane strength when the storm causes extensive flooding.
Exactly what hubby just said :-)
There are 300 cots just at the Freeman Coliseum first responder staging area....Others also being or are already set up in other areas as well....
100 buses staged there...used now to evacuate people
Notice they’re heading to San Antonio...not DFW area.
“State of Emergency” already declared for 30 Counties ahead of time....thus services now and in the aftermath are all set to act.
Very proud of President Trump...everything that can be set in place is being done....!!!!
Texas Governor has been stating many times now...
URGENT: People ‘MUST’ evacuate as quickly as possible if you live in one of these low-lying areas.
“with all the rain falling the brown ocean effect may come into play..so much water on the ground”
That’s interesting...so the rain becomes heated surface water which maintains convection. But not nearly as much energy as the ocean, of course.
Illegals migrants between rock and hard place...to choose between:
~staying in Hurricane Harvey’s path
~evacuating and risking detention
Yep. Heard that, yesterday, about the thirty counties being declared.
Very proud of Pres Trump, too.
This speeds up the process for any flood damage claims.
They’ll head for San Antonio, Austin and Dallas.....Senate Bill 4 doesn’t kick in until Sept 1st. They have a few days :-)
I love that!
Stealing that!
Stay safe out there, I hope all of you get through this without major losses (I assume there will be some damage no matter what).
Geez. Does anyone believe tropical force winds would make it that far inland? Oklahoma? Arkansas? The NHC needs to severely alter this “experimental” product.
