A confrontation occurred between Indian and Chinese soldiers along a disputed border in the western Himalayas, Indian officials said on Tuesday.
The PTI news agency said soldiers threw stones, causing minor injuries to both sides, as Chinese troops tried to enter Indian territory near the Pangong lake.
Beijing maintains that their soldiers were inside Chinese territory. [snip] The two nations fought a war over the border in 1962 and disputes remain unresolved in several areas, which causes tensions to escalate from time to time.

Had he authorized MacArthur to nuke the Chinese Armies into oblivion at the Yalu , while at the same time put our total and unequivocal support towards Chiang Kai Shek and the Nationalist Chinese , it would be a totally different world today . No Communist PRC , no cultural revolution , a Free Tibet , no Vietnam War , no Communist North Korea and no Kim Jong Un . Russia would have , could have , done nothing . We hold back our hand of power and might at our great peril . Then AND now. Back India and take out North Korea . Put the PRC in it’s place . Enough already .

I went to Japan the past two summers and lived there 15 years ago. Chinese tourists are the absolute worst.
Hence Trump’s tougher line on Pakistan.
Calculus: Pakistan is India’s blood enemy. Trump “leaning on” Pakistan, takes pressure off of India by reducing the likelihood of Pakistan “bothering” India. This help free up the Indian military to directly confront China. Good for US.
China’s move: Help Pakistan via North Korea (to maintain plausible deniability). Pakistan “makes noise” on the Indian border: allows “militants” to cross border, make threats, etc.
The Chicoms armed the Muzzies. North Korea (China’s stooge) “sold” nuclear know how and rocket technology to Pakistan. Pakistan, the blood enemy of India, then provided that know how to Iran and Libya, blood enemies of the West. All in all, a big win for China.

This right here is the most squandered moment in a peaceful human history.
What people don’t understand (And I’m happy that you DO understand) is that if we had used that bomb against our enemies in practice instead of in symbolic gesture, the entire world today would be harmonious, fed, cultured and free.
But because it seems like the right thing to do by NOT swinging your big stick, we were instead sheepishly backed off from establishing dominance in favor of being the good guys in other’s eyes.
The truth is as you stated - because we held back with that bomb we now have a world where nuclear weapons are proliferated and evil outnumbers good by a hefty ratio.
Also, yes Chinese tourists and the Chinese nationals are simply the worst.
My wife and I have encountered Chinese tourists at the subway stations. They are very rude and arrogant, cutting lines and pushing their way into the subway trains. Also do that at stores, we're waiting in line to order food and they cut in front. My wife mouths off at them and hates them, and my wife is Chinese-American (born here). Very definite difference between born here, and over there, in actions.
Alas in the past 200 years in which China has fought against and been thrashed by Britain, France, the US, Japan, Russia and even tiny Vietnam, the only country the Chinese have actually been able to beat was India.
If we are relying on the Indians to beat the Chinese we are on to a no-hoper.

It was 1946 when we stopped Ciang from crushing the commies. That was the tipping point. The reds were able to regroup and counterattack.
After backing Chiang Kai Shek throughout WW2 , with everything from the Flying Tigers , to the Burma Road , to flying supplies over the Hump , to basing the 1st B-29’s in China , why ....why in the world would we not support him in gaining a victory over Mao’s forces ?
The only solution I can think of is that when it comes to war , America always relies on feckless, clueless , cowardly CIVILIANS to call the shots. When it should be the warriors that cement the victories .
I believe the U.S. should have 2 Presidents ; one for civilian affairs and one for prosecuting war fighting .
I’d rather be led by a warrior king than a spineless clueless civilian politician , any day .
