Bingo.
“Double, double, toil and trouble. Fire burn and cauldron bubble”.
United Church of Canada (UCC), as well!
I sing in an inter-denominational Christian men’s choir and we sing approximately once a month at services during the Fall, Winter and Spring. Sometimes the churches have a potluck dinner and they feed us.
Yes, two years ago, someone had prepared a cabbage salad in celery-flavoured gelatin, I believe. I politely excused myself from the salad. Everything else was delicious, but I wasn’t ready for the salad.
When I was little, my mom and aunt took us kids, drove from the ranch to the nearest city to see a friend and her husband who lived there-they only had a small apt, so we stayed the night in a real hotel-two adults and 5 kids in one room-with a real dining room-first place I ever saw a jellied/aspic salad was when we got in line at the buffet-the hotel rather grandly called it a smorgasbord-it was shrimp, tiny tomatoes and some other stuff suspended in a square of pale peach colored gelatin on a lettuce leaf on a plate. To country kids used to fresh food they can instantly ID, it looked totally alien and creepy-we did not try it...
That was on dysfunctional crowd.
FDR was crippled by polio at age 39. Up until then he had boinked many women other than his wife, the most notable being Lucy Mercer, who maintained the relationship and was with him when he died in 1945.
As to whether sex was possible after polio-caused atrophy had reduced FDR’s legs to matchsticks, is not fit for discussion here.
“cabbage salad in celery-flavoured gelatin”
That sounds interesting-but horrible-sort of like how my neighbor describes those Aussie vegemite sandwiches...
You can thank my dear departed mother for that ... she saw it back in '76. And you're right ... it's unforgettable.
For some reason, I don't think this product, as named, would have a very big market in the West. Sometimes the translation to Engrish just doesn't cut it!
Personally, about the only ‘jellied salads’ I like are fruit salads in fruit flavoured gelatin.
I suppose they could-I’ve only seen aspic salads a couple of times since that trip-I was 5-6 then-they don’t seem to be very popular, and I still probably wouldn’t want to try one...
“exacting revenge on FDR for having affairs.” Was that before or after he got polio?
Jimmy does not seem to be as evil as most Democrats just befuddled and out of his depths. Never heard any real “dirt” on either of the Carters except Billy.
Oh, s***! I’m LMAO as I copy and send that to my compadre from work and my guy-where is the product from-Japan or China?
Haha! more to copy and sent to brighten their day...
Starving a cripple. And this woman is supposed to be a national hero or something?
