Vessels from several nations are searching Southeast Asian waters for 10 missing U.S. sailors after an early morning collision Monday between the USS John S. McCain and an oil tanker ripped a gaping hole in the destroyer's hull.
The collision east of Singapore between the guided missile destroyer and the 183-meter (600-foot) Alnic MC was the second involving a ship from the U.S. Navy's 7th Fleet in the Pacific in two months.
Vessels and aircraft from the U.S., Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia are searching for the missing sailors. Four other sailors were evacuated by a Singaporean navy helicopter to a hospital in the city-state for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, the Navy said. A fifth was taken to the hospital by ambulance after the destroyer arrived in Singapore under its own power, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore said.
The McCain had been heading to Singapore on a routine port visit after conducting a sensitive freedom-of-navigation operation last week by sailing near one of China's man-made islands in the South China Sea.
The Navy's 7th Fleet said "significant damage" to the McCain's hull resulted in the flooding of adjacent compartments including crew berths, machinery and communications rooms. A damage control response prevented further flooding, it said.

I don’t know much about technology (no more than I have to). Is it possible that someone is messing with navigation programs?
Hard to understand. When we got in “traffic” the adrenaline levels got amp’d up big time to watch for hazards. Then again, while waiting for a tug in Jacksonville, the skipper got impatient and decided to get underway anyhow. The current swung the bow around and we smacked the pier casuing enough damage that we had to head over to Mayport for repairs because we were taking on water. Yeah, stuff happens.
That part of shipping lanes are very crowded and US Navy is slacking now.
Anyone see a pattern here?

Too many coincidences.
If a ship runs into another ship, then its bow, the front of the ship will be damaged.
If a ship is damaged on its side, then it has been run into by the other ship.
This one might take out some flag officers..
Or if it slams into the pier bow first. ;-)
Maybe the various protesting groups have infiltrated the U.S. Navy as well. Nothing would surprise me.
I served aboard a U.S. heavy cruiser (CA-139) and can tell you that the bridge (”human control room”) has one officer in charge and more than one person navigating any vessel. Even getting near or close to another ship while at sea is one of MAJOR CONCERN and handled with extreme caution and concern. I smell a rat with the causes of these frequent U.S. Navy ship collisions.
This is our most advanced missile destroyer? A major embarrassment for the Navy. One such accident is bad, two are horrendous and must be forcefully addressed now.
It can only be assumed that the Navy eliminated the Watch Officers on warships and disabled all radar as an energy saving feature. These aren’t little speedboats bumping around, these are big ships.

Not necessarily, side collisions could also be a result of the side damaged ship trying to avoid a collision. Ships of this size are not your every day row boat.

Yeh, they've let too many untrained queers drive boats in the Navy. We need a “new fleet” of Admirals to run the Navy, because the one’s there are more interested in the “transgender narrative” than building a trained fighting force.
