In the aftermath of Charlottesville, an awful lot of awful things have been said about Republicans and race relations.
However, the Left's accusations of racism couldn't be further from the truth that has played out in the halls of Congress over the last 150 years.
It is shocking that as talk of statues and historical racism is being bandied about, no one has mentioned the Democrats' utterly shameful treatment of African Americans throughout history.
Over the last 100 years, Republicans have stood up for African Americans while Democrats not only stood on the sidelines, but in fact served as obstructionists to civil liberties.
Here are at least 12 examples in which Democrats voted against African Americans, and Republicans voted to free them:
Democrats voted against every piece of civil rights legislation in Congress from 1866 to 1966 – a whopping 100 years. That is a dismal record for today's Democrats who would like you to believe that history has been on their side on this issue.

1. Democrats voted to keep Africans Americans in slavery, opposing the 13th Amendment which officially freed the slaves. Only four Democrats voted for it.
2. Republicans also passed the 14th Amendment which granted slaves U.S. citizenship; Democrats voted against it.
3. Republicans also passed the 15th Amendment which gave slaves the right to vote. Not a single one of the 56 Democrats in Congress voted for it.
4.Furthermore, Republicans passed all of the Civil Rights laws of the 1860s — including the Civil Rights Act of 1866 and the Reconstruction Act of 1867 following the Civil War.
5. The Republican Party itself was founded as the “anti-slavery party” in 1854. The party subsequently gave us President Abraham Lincoln and ultimately, the Emancipation Proclamation which led to the liberation of slaves.

The Democratic Party was responsible for passing Jim Crow laws
The Democratic Party was responsible for .. Black Civil Codes that forced Americans to utilize separate drinking fountains, swimming pools, and other facilities in the 20th century.
I think I’ve said this on other threads: “If you want to get rid of those entities that supported racial segregation you should be demanding that the Democratic Party disband.”
Every Republican/Conservative in the media should be pointing this little factoid out. Where are they?
the 1957 Civil Rights Act while in the U.S. Senate. Sen. Al Gore, Sr., D-Tenn., also opposed it.
That’s nice and all but again, constantly mentioning the DEMS are the party of KKK and a BYRD is not really an effective argument against what is going on right now with these domestic terrorists groups who are fronting as saviors of the country against Nazis with cover and support from the entire political establishment including the GOP.
This is a freedom of speech issue too and apparently it’s perfectly okay to use violence against anyone conservative and again, the GOP think this as well.
POTUS has been a HUGE factor in fundraising and donations to the GOP and they refuse to support him, and now they hate us as well.
And then LBJ came along and figured out you can get more votes and make some nice money for yourself and friends if you patronized certain groups.
And statues are of Democrats in many cases, no Republican that’s for sure.
President Trump, Mr Bannon, they opened this can of worms, please blow them out of the water with truth in their own subject matter with a medium the other brainwashed 50% of the population can’t miss it. I don’t know how to accomplish that, but perhaps between Breitbart and O’KEEFE you all can do it!

I’m sure there will be a Special on CNN highlighting this story, and specifically the Racist History of the Democrat Party. I’ll go check.
