ARLINGTON, Texas - Six Flags Over Texas had a change of heart and took down the Confederate States of America flag at the park in Arlington.
Since it opened in 1961, the park has displayed flags for governments of Texas history: Spain, France, Mexico, the Republic of Texas, the U.S. and the Confederate States of America.
The amusement park initially said it would continue to fly a version of the Confederate flag despite the recent push to wipe out such symbols. Park officials told TMZ it felt park patrons were “astute enough to know the difference” between the Confederate States of America flag and the Confederate Battle flag, which is commonly associated with white supremacy.
But on Friday, the company announced it would switch to flying the U.S. flag only.
“At Six Flags Over Texas, we strive every single day to make people happy and to create a fun, thrilling and safe family friendly experience for our guests," they said in a statement. "We always choose to focus on celebrating the things that unite us versus those that divide us. As such, we have changed the flag displays in our park to feature American flags."
Six Flags said they'll continue to fly branded flags for special events as it's done in the past but plan to keep the U.S. flags as the permanent display.

I went to that park in the first year or so that it opened. What a cultural and historical betrayal those corporate cowards have committed. Eff them! Never again!
The should erect statues to people like Harvey Milk and others. They can then call it “Six Fags Over Texas.”
Confederate soldiers, sailors, and Marines that fought in the Civil war were made U.S. Veterans by an act of Congress in in 1957, U.S. Public Law 85-425, Sec 410, Approved 23 May, 1958. This made all Confederate Army/ Navy/ Marine Veterans equal to U.S. Veterans. Additionally, under U.S. Public Law 810, Approved by the 17th Congress on 26 Feb 1929 the War Department was directed to erect headstones and recognize Confederate grave sites as U.S. War dead grave sites. Just for the record the last Confederate veteran died in 1958. When you remove a Confederate statue, monument or headstone, you are in fact, removing a statue, monument or head stone of a U.S. VETERAN.
18 U.S. Code § 1369 - Destruction of veterans memorials (a) Whoever, in a circumstance described in subsection (b), willfully injures or destroys, or attempts to injure or destroy, any structure, plaque, statue, or other monument on public property commemorating the service of any person or persons in the armed forces of the United States shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both. (b) A circumstance described in this subsection is that (1) in committing the offense described in subsection (a), the defendant travels or causes another to travel in interstate or foreign commerce, or uses the mail or an instrumentality of interstate or foreign commerce; or (2) the structure, plaque, statue, or other monument described in subsection (a) is located on property owned by, or under the jurisdiction of, the Federal Government.
Cowards.
Jeeze, I had so much confidence that Texas wasn’t going to cave on this nonsense. How wrong I was.
I want all mexican flags taken down in the United States.
We are not Mexico.
Hey if we can now order people to take down flags we find offensive, and even flying them in some cases illegally, then hey, I am going to have my reasonable demands obeyed as well.
This icon of the left was a devil. Tear down these racist monuments!
Texas didn’t cave. The dipsh** cowards at 6 Flags did and nobody should be surprised. Liberals shriek and businesses listen. Boycott. It’s the only way.
The formal proper display must be done on a single standard (pole) with our Current (50 star flag) above the Confederate Battle flag
So Much for going to Six Flags
