BOGOTA, Colombia
A handful of Venezuelan soldiers armed and in uniform were caught in neighboring Guyana last week begging for food, local police reported, another sign of Venezuelas deepening hunger crisis.

Guyanese Police Inspector Christopher Humphrey said hed gone to the border along the Amacuro river, which divides the two nations, to investigate reports that the Venezuelan military was stealing food from locals. But the three soldiers he encountered two carrying military assault rifles said they had come to beg for meals and hadnt harmed anyone.s
Humphrey said the men had crossed into Guyana on a wooden raft and seemed genuinely hungry.
They were desperate, he told the Miami Herald. They were here for some time and they showed me a can of sardines and the place where they had cooked it over a fire.
Hunger is on the rise in Venezuela, amid triple-digit inflation and the governments inability to import basic goods. And neighboring Colombia, Brazil and Guyana have seen a spike in Venezuelans looking for food.

I love these stories; when the government forbids profiting from hard work, who will do hard work anymore? Why grow food if it will just be taken away?
Hungry soldiers are not a good idea if you want to stay in power for long.
Ask the Czar.
Communism, curing obesity one nation at a time.
Right.
An army fights on its stomach.
When that belly is empty all hell breaks loose.
Anarchy at its worst.
Adding this to ....
Socialists and their routine famines

Our homegrown Socialists are studiously ignoring what is going on in VZ, and when confronted with it, denying that this is the natural end stage of Socialism/Collectivism.
I am a little heartened that these particular soldiers did not exploit their weapons and training [apparently].
Of course they could get hard boiled over time under such conditions if they aren’t willing to starve.
The interesting thing about Venezuela is that we are in the age of mass social media and smart phones — this is impossible to hide unlike earlier decades.
It’s the first time the world has seen the final outcome of socialist tyranny under a microscope.
I hate to think of these humans as lab rats, but let their sacrifice MEAN SOMETHING, not be some invisible ‘nothing’ that only a few historians try to remind people about.
Trump was right again to bring up the starvation here.
Beg to differ.... From the first days of the Russian Revolution, the entire process has been recorded and looped for every subsequent regime that popped up. John Reed, Walter Delahanty, Walter Cronkite and other progressive journalists and publishers spiked the real stories of the catastrophic results.
Western Europe and the US had tens of thousands of escapees bearing witness. All the victims of smear campaigns by the media of the day and academics.
Nor did the anarchist assassinations starting in the 1880 escape notice. Search for anarchist assinations Europe, the length of the list will surprise.

When I was a kid back in the 70s, I actually believed the talking heads on TV. What else was I supposed to do?
And I didn’t know what to make of communism back then. They censored the media after all.

Then there’s the feminine side that needs to see photos and hear voices. Now to be seen in youtubes etc.
Bismarck, when asked what he would do if the British Army showed up in Germany, “I’d have them arrested!”
Photos, films, and recordings were all presented to the msm of the day as well as political figures. Almost all were spiked, twisted, and slandered.
Not meant to disparage you, just showing that there was more. As the X Files said, The Truth is Out There.
Sadly as a child of the 70’s your public school education system had already been taken over by the “progressives”, Walter Chrobkite et al had done their dirty work in reporting the war in Viet Nam, and Watergate hearing flooded the networks.
It’s a hard slog to to review history in a new light while working to provide for one’s family, so many things have their pull on our time. Yet if we do not we become clay pigeons to be picked off one by one or sent to “re-education camps” to have a cram course in the pratical applications of totalitarian rule with mandatory attendance.
‘Photos, films, and recordings were all presented to the msm of the day as well as political figures. Almost all were spiked, twisted, and slandered.’
Exactly.
The voices of truth were too few and easily smeared, slandered, misrepresented, etc.
Now truth itself is flooding the zone.
The main reason why it’s not happening instantly is due to the social media titans being agenda driven. But they keep getting blitzed time and again.
That was why I was so opposed to ICANN going ‘free range’ — international law is truth’s greatest threat.
‘Sadly as a child of the 70s your public school education system had already been taken over by the progressives’
I was actually blessed to have a couple patriotic truth-driven history teachers back in the 70s, and I imagine that most students had it much worse even then.
This might ‘sound’ weird, but CNN was actually conservative in the mid-80s. That was before Barbarella had any influence over Ted Turner. And I heard Pat Buchanan on Crossfire. That was probably the first crack in my liberal armor. Before that I was such a sick puppy that I thought ‘Eat the Rich’ by Krokus was an awesome song. And if I knew that Bill Ayers’ Weathermen wanted to kill 25 million people to overthrow our system of government — heck — mixed feelings since overpopulation seemed real.
I was one confused kid, a flaming leftist who thought Daniel Shorr was heroic when he quit [then conservative] CNN.
The more I learn about German officer training back then the more impressed I am.
Oh, those guys were dangerous!
Well-I think that is what schools are for. It's paramount that young people get ALL the facts before they reach their OWN conclusions about things... ALL things.
The MSM and the NEA have not only failed America... they have colluded with our enemies to effectively dummy down the entire voting public. There is no other way to explain why grown adults cannot define the things for which they routinely VOTE.
I would have loved to learn the hard hitting facts about communism v free market as a kid.
I would have loved to hear debates between college deans and others.
I recall watching Buchanan on CNN’s Crossfire before he was heavily censored. And I was always disappointed in my fellow liberals failing to outfox that brilliant man.
That made me respect conservatives more, but actually, I also recall how riveting William F Buckley was. Only got to hear him twice, but wow! He seemed unassailable.
Debates like that probably taught me more than anything else.

Oh it’s a stool with several legs. Media, pop culture, ‘education’, but don’t forget ‘social media’.
Facebook is like an alternate reality. It might help to talk with someone who ‘lives’ there. I did, a cousin of mine. Completely different view of reality that already strictly outlaws truth as ‘hate speech’.
BTW ... what you are thinking about today is of VITAL importance — how people form conclusions about things.
And frankly, I think conservative entertainment is important. If you bore them, you lose them.
