Baez, btw, misheard the lyrics and recorded the song from memory. So she says, “Til so much cavalry came” rather than “Til Stoneman’s cavalry came”. She made another blunder or two but I’m too lazy to look it up. I still like her version a great deal though.

50 years ago Al Capp, creator of Lil Abner Was "hip to her jive" Joanie Phoney, indeed. Also, this little ditty, a satire of Beaz' great works had her panties up in a wad.(language warning). This song was on the Nat'l Lampoon Radio Hour album. Like so many lefties, she can dish it out but can't take the heat.
