The city did not try and refuse permits for the Unite the Right Rally. They did try to move it from around the Lee statue to another site, claiming that there wasn't sufficient room. That was what the rally organizers took to court - assisted by the ACLU by the way. And the judge ruled that they could meet where originally planned.
As for the left's permits, the article clearly says that they had permits put didn't provide any details. On the other hand, other than location it didn't provide details on the Unite The Right rally permit either.
If indeed they did get a permit then the city has a lot of responsibility giving them that permit since they knew the size, and scope of this crowd. The permit could have easily have been given to them for the other side of town at a different time , or different day.
And Unite the Right could have marched miles away from the Lee statue, as the city wanted. But it kind of defeats the idea of demonstration and counter demonstration. If the city underestimated anything it was the overwhelming desire on both sides for a violent outcome. They certainly weren't responsible for that.
Um, they sure as hell were. If they did indeed issue permits for the violent leftists for the same location, as stated in the article, what did they think was going to happen?
well who should I believe.
The link you gave with the name of progress stating they had a permit whilst the President has just stated they did not , and I ma sure he has more info than the local liberal paper you gave to freepers.
I’m going with the president on this one and what he states, which was never refuted by any of the MSM
DD, don’t be going all AWOL on us tonight.
