“Well, did he ever return, no, he never returned, and his fate is still unknown...”
MTA...some things never change.
Oh yes he Never Returned
Oh no he Never Returned
And his fate is still unlearned...
Beat me to it.
LOL...I was going to post that now we know why he never returned.
The fare went up while he was on the train. Were they charging him to get off? And if so were they not just wasting space on a non-paying passenger that could be used for a paying passenger?
And why didn't he just get off at the end of the line and walk home? Did they have a 24/7 guard on him even when the train was not running?
Wrong MTA.When that song was written Boston's transit system was called the Metropolitan Transit Authority (the MTA).And NYC's transit system was,and still is,referred to as the MTA (but I don't know what it stands for).
Some years later (can't recall when) the name of Boston's system was changed to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA).
The song you refer to mentions Scolly Square...Roxbury...and Jamaica Plain, all sections of the City of Boston (Scolly Square became "Government Center" after the song was released).
