EXCLUSIVE: President Trump may soon issue a pardon for Joe Arpaio, the colorful former Arizona sheriff who was found guilty two weeks ago of criminal contempt for defying a state judges order to stop traffic patrols targeting suspected undocumented immigrants. In his final years as Maricopa County sheriff, Arpaio had emerged as a leading opponent of illegal immigration.
I am seriously considering a pardon for Sheriff Arpaio, the president said Sunday, during a conversation with Fox News at his club in Bedminster, N.J. He has done a lot in the fight against illegal immigration. Hes a great American patriot and I hate to see what has happened to him.
Trump said the pardon could happen in the next few days, should he decide to do so.
Arpaio, 85, was convicted by U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton of misdemeanor contempt of court for willfully disregarding an Arizona judges order in 2011 to stop the anti-immigrant traffic patrols. Arpaio had maintained the law enforcement patrols for 17 months thereafter.

It looks like a return to the idea of states’ rights in this sphere. And there is constitutional support for this — for states to defend themselves against invasion if Uncle Sam won’t.
The USSC is going to hear this loud and clear.
He should do it. Pardon Arpaio.
1. He’s 85 years old. Show some compassion.
2. Arpaio is right. Inquiring about immigration status when folks get involved with the police is necessary when it becomes obvious nothing else makes sense. The judge had an unjust standard of never inquiring. That just doesn’t cut it.
You may be right, I don’t know but it was a federal judge that found him guilty of contempt.
I hope that Joe, also, finds a position within the Trump administration, should he be interested in wanting one.
Superior Court. Crimes that violate state or local laws are not considered crimes against the United States and thus cannot be considered for presidential clemency. Pardons for state-level crimes are typically granted by the states governor or a state board of pardon and parole.
Is this a federal crime conviction or a state crime conviction?
Please call the White House comment line: 202-456-1111 to urge the President to issue a pardon for Sheriff Joe. Urgent that we call so the President knows he has our support.
Arpaio’s charges are misdemeanors, which means he will probably never see a jail cell. I don’t think you can do a pardon on a misdemeanor.
I pray he does this. More winning.
The judge is U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton.
Why is DJT saying anything about pardoning Sheriff Joe? You just do it and soon!
And you let this be a warning to swamper Robert “The Fix Is In” Mueller and his pukes that Trump will be issuing pardons for their victims too. Say nothing. Let the pardons do the talking.
Trial balloon to see how much backlash there might be.
I would absolutely LOVE IT....and the media would have such a meltdown.
What an awesome twofer!!!!
OK Thanks.
‘Under the Constitution, only federal criminal convictions, such as those adjudicated in the United States District Courts, may be pardoned by the President’
28 C.F.R. §§ 1.1 et seq., an applicant must satisfy a minimum waiting period of five years before he becomes eligible to apply for a presidential pardon of his federal conviction.
’ if the conviction resulted in a sentence that did not include any form of confinement, including community or home confinement, the waiting period begins on the date of sentencing’
You may make a written request for a waiver of this requirement’

Welcome Home, Joe
We will tie a yellow ribbon ‘round the old oak tree.
TWB
I was hoping that Trump would pardon him.
And end DACA like you said you would.
Agree completely. I could get behind a slight compromise allowing those here in school to finish their education but then it's time to go home.
Also; press for the abolishment of the anchor baby loophole.
Then arrest the judge for obstruction of governance
I probably failed to read closely enough. I thought it was a state judge.
Turns out it was a federal district court injunction he was said to have violated.
The President can pardon any time. Most have waited till they were one foot out the door. Primarily because so many of their pardons were indefensible.
Good. And the Bundy crew while you have your pen out.
