On August 12, a driver drove his vehicle into a crowd of anti-racist protesters, killing one woman and injuring 19 other individuals. The suspect has been identified as James Alex Fields, Jr.
Department of Memes reported that police officers in Charlottesville believed the driver was not acting maliciously, suggesting he was scared by the protesters on every side of his vehicle and he did not know what to do.
On the video I linked to shows he is driving much too fast for an area filled with pedestrians. He should have never gone down that road and reversed out right away. He is obviously good driving in reverse. I think he was looking for trouble and he found it.
From another FR thread:
Unicorn Riot.... a 501(c)(3)
Bet this outfit got their tax deferred status in a blink of the eye. /sarc
Gray Charger https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ewxba5-vdhA
Notice this video has a dark gray Charger with the trunk intact and flashing torn from the front end.
This vehicle is different than the two shown in the NBC video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4MKwzPYrbk
By my count, there are three vehicles involved: lead vehicle red mini van; middle vehicle gray/white sedan with damage on the front and rear (truck deck) and, finally, the gray Charger allegedly the guy from Ohio with a damaged front-end and no damage on the rear trunk deck.
Someone needs to explain why vehicle #1 and #2 are not being paraded in front of the cameras.

Were vehicles #1 and #2 operated by the police, a city council member, a member of the media, or just an ordinary slub caught in traffic?

He might already have been escaping a previous threatening crowd. There were many encounters and acts of violence taking place in Charlottesville during those hours.
True, so why the heck is he out and about unless he was there to participate in one form or another. He wasn’t some bewildered list driver. He knew what was happening in Charlottesville. Over the past couple of years, there’s been much discussion about ‘what would you do or what is legal to do when blocked by protesters’. He’s guilty, an ass, and a moron to boot.
And the weapons the counter-protesters had? They were looking for trouble. Who attacked first, the driver or the pedestrians? I’m not sure.
It is being said that the cops had disbursed the so-called "white nationalist" gathering and people were leaving the area while the so-called "anti-protesters" were gathered in the area. It was a set-up for many violent encounters and many took place, this is just the most dramatic.
We don't know what that driver had experienced as he was apparently leaving the area. He might well have had reasonable fear for his life with the streets lined and blocked with the anti-protesters wielding bats and clubs.
There is still not enough known to conclude very much and it'll probably be many more days before we do know enough.
"Heeb" is short for "Hebrew" meaning a Jewish person.
I was trying to pause it at the beginning, it looks like his car is surrounded beforehand. The obvious question to ask is why were they armed with bats in the first place and why were they immediately used? To me it looks very much like they were attacking the car and chased it down when he drove away.
Lol!
All evening I’ve been remembering this...
:-)
My God help me, I just hate the living effin guts of RINO slime like Rubio and Graham. Without all the facts coming in, right away those two sc*mbags are trying tie Trump and neo-Nazis together.
I agree that the protesters on the left needed to disperse.
One, they did not have a permit. Two, they were told to leave before this incident. There is a lot wrong with that whole day. The gov should have revoked the permit or made better plans to control all sides of the protests. This responsibility falls on the governor and local government. The media hyped this into the frenzy it became and the governor & pd did not take charge as they needed to. I.e., blockades, street closures, etc
Blaming this on Trump is ridiculous tho. Earlier in the day, he said ‘both sides’ because both sides were behaving wrongly and provoking each other. The Obama did a lot to provoke conservatives tho. With statements such as ‘if they show up with a knife, we’ll bring a gun’. Or ‘the Leo acted stupidly’, not denouncing BLM’s role in Baltimore. Trump has not provoked anyone as the left has tried to state. Completely false. Obama created racial tension that has spilled over with a vengeance. It was manifested yesterday.
Sickening!!
I agree, and it is beyond ridiculous and totally expected that the MSM and the left in general will try to hang this on Trump. I just hope Sesssions will conduct an objective investigation and not use this as an opportunity to show how he will go after the so-called “white nationalists”.
There is plenty of wrong to be uncovered on all sides and also with the local and state governments and their strange decisions over several days.
In all the photos I have seen, the only people with bats, combat gear, shields and pepper spray at this event were the Antifa thugs, and the police.
Didn’t pResident Obama have members of BLM at the White House?
Didn’t some BLM people assassinate police in SEVERAL cities?
Why wasn’t the Communisty Organizer called on the carpet for his marching “civilian” troops?
The way the press first reported it, it was if he'd driven through a taped-off protest area or up onto the sidewalk. Then when I saw the video, it wasn't that at all... the protesters were in the street where they had no business to be, and he did not jump up on the sidewalk.
It doesn't matter if he was a bigot or not- he had a right to use the street as it was designed to be used, unmolested, but every reason to expect that an Antifa and BLM crowd would beat the hell out of him if they could catch him. Could indeed be an engineer thing, that's the way I see it, too.
Even after a ball game lets out and people flood the streets to get to their cars, they make way for vehicles. Of course after a ball game the interesting thing is fans leaving the stadium don't carry baseball bats because they aren't planning on attacking the other team's fans, nor do they expect the opposing fans to attack them. Cardinals fans don't travel to Chicago to heckle Cubs fans at Cubs rallies, and Cubs fans don't travel to St. Louis to heckle Cards fans. Why? Because it's rude, and even among friends you don't ask for trouble. Do unto others as you'd have them do to you. Decades of rivalry, no soccer field style bloodshed.
What idiot issues permits for political groups that oppose each other- particularly when one or both of them have a reputation for violence -to protest on the same day ... except someone who doesn't care about their police force and wants violence to break out?
Judy (Free Speech) Miller reported on Fox that the right-wing have a propensity for violence. I nearly fell over!!
Well, explain why they would have a reason to target his car when there’s no bumper sticker or other telling feature to let them know he wasn’t one of them? He wasn’t even wearing a hat to trigger them, nor was his car a cop car to trigger any BLM members.
I’m not explaining anything except that, at present, not enough is known to draw any final conclusions. But some news reports did say that the cops were moving the “alt-right” demonstrators out of the area. And I haven’t read anything so detailed that it specified what was or was not on his car, or what he was or was not wearing.
