Conservative Millennial Women Are Here For Female EmpowermentJust Don't Call Them Feminists
Recently I spent two days at the hub of conservatism in Washington, D.C. Nope, not the White House, but the Heritage Foundation for the Network of Enlightened Womens National Conferencealso known as NeWwhere a group of college-aged conservative females gathered to discuss and learn about Republican policy and leadership. And yes, Kellyanne Conway was there.
As a 24-year-old liberal woman who cried watching Hillary Clinton lose the election live at New Yorks Javits Center, this wasnt a room I ever thought Id find myself in, and my preconceived notions ran rampantall I could think was that I didnt have the right clothes, let alone the bandwidth for the mental gymnastics it would take to talk to women about Donald Trump without combusting.
On the day of the conference, swathed in a pastel tweed blazer and kitten heels, I found myself in a room of 50-plus excited, chatty, diverse women. I saw girls with nose rings, in large hipster glasses, with dreadlocks. Few to none were wearing pearls.

This young liberal woman reveals, amazingly, that she found out that conservatives are not monsters.
She still isn't a conservative, but she has a greater respect for them. And that is a good start.
I suspect she might be beaten up by other liberals for writing this.
Anyway, worth your time.
In other words she is discovering the country we all lived in before Saul Alinsky went scorched earth on our entire political system.
Thanks for posting this
Fixed that.
By the mid-1980s nobody gave a crap about women in the workplace anymore. They were everywhere they wanted to be, paid as much as any equivalent man in and equivalent job with equivalent education and experience. I’ve never known it to be otherwise.
The real complaint they have is they want 5 years off for babies and a six figure salary for a Sociology degree when they come back to work.
Hi! 26yo conservative wife and mom here!
Millennials bump for later.....
thank you for posting. it was a refreshing read. a liberal, at last, with a partially open mind.
I will be sorry to hear of the author’s upcoming fatal weight-lifting accident.
left handed compliments...still reads like a hit piece...
Here is the difference between conservative women and liberal women. I fight my own battles. If I can’t fight my own battles I’m not truly worthy of being considered equal.
Absolutely agree! She got her "shots" in there.
In one of the most emotional moments of the conference, a sexual assault survivor and advocate stood up and questioned whether she could defend Trump after the comments hes made towards women.
I guess twisted, out of context comments are worse that a rapist President.
To anyone on this thread, I highly recommend “The Red Pill”. It covers a very strongly related subject. It’s also free on Amazon prime.
Like a typical Liberal, the author wants to focus on Women-As-Victims. Golly, I wonder how many cyberbullies are women? Im pretty darn sure that girls are bullying girls here to an overwhelming degree.
these women dont identify with feminism as I define it, I came to find that they can still befor lack of a better phrasewoke as hell.
For lack of a better phrase? Really? She cant come up with a better phrase? And she claims to be a professional writer? But perhaps I'm bullying her ...
Thank you for posting this :)
It was a hit piece with low key jabs like the wage gap myth.
Why did she mention it was her first ever Chick Fil A lunch?? Is she trying to reassure her liberal readers that of course she would never go there by choice, was somehow compelled to eat it because the conference got food from there???
Speaking as a woman, they bash Pres Trump as being disrespectful towards women verbally yet no mention of Clinton rapes and molestation.
More than a touch of GOPe which is why she found them so palatable.
Few to none were wearing pearls.
That’s because they don’t have to clutch them after every imagined slight or micwoagwesshun.
She didn’t think she could talk to other women about Trump without combusting??? Really??? Interesting word choice.
So she is saying, that in spite of her wanting us to think she is a dedicated professional, that she had doubts of her ability to engage discussion of a person such as Trump, without going into an emotional meltdown????
