Angela Merkels main rival in the upcoming election opened up this week in an interview about the balance between freedom and security, as well as about what Europes military strategy should be.
Six weeks before Germanys national election in which Merkel will seek a fourth term, her main rival Martin Schulz is lagging behind in the polls. In the most recent survey at the end of July by Stern, RTL and Forsa Institute, Schulz sank to his lowest level of support since being nominated as the Social Democrats (SPD) chancellor candidate. Just 21 percent of respondents said that hypothetically speaking, they would choose Schulz if they were able to vote directly for him. This was compared to 52 percent who said the same for Merkel. Europe must now come together more closely. We need a very strong exchange of data, for example in the fight against terrorism. And we need a common European defense policy, instead of following the arms-building logic of Donald Trump. I absolutely have a low opinion of Germany investing 20 billion to 30 billion more in the army. That will not happen with me as chancellor. [ ]
The chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany has an enormous responsibility for Germany, but with the country being the strongest economy in the heart of Europe, they are responsible for the future of the European Union. But I do not shy away from this.

Take the money wasted depending their borders and use it to defend our own.
We do not have allies. We have grifters.
They do want that to happen, but only when we’re at the breaking point and can’t defend ourselves.
That is true.
She’s projected to win?
Don’t call us when you can’t defend yourselves! A lot of men died saving your country from the Nazi’s in WWII, you jackal!
Merkel and her party (CDU/CSU combo) rate near 40-percent. There was a brief downward trend from December to February...dropping ten points, but she regained all of that.
If you were to travel around Germany...you’d hardly know that an election is underway. No hyped up sense compared to France, Austria or the US.
So far. But so was Hillary.
Another lousy Kraut coward (Social Democrats - the favorite home for KGB agents re Willie Brandt and KGB operative Guillaume, his secretary/aide).
Unbelievably, between the two, Merkel is the conservative. That’s how far gone they are.
Get us out of NATO
As it is now, NATO stands guard for Brussels leftist social-engineers.
The North Atlantic Treaty has been violated multiple times by the continental European “Parties”. They need to answer for their failed obligations, and they must never be allowed to unite militarily.
The Treaty itself is a mess, what with it being inextricably bound up with the UN.
She’s actually the better option. :(
Translation: We have to spend our money on helping Muzzies not working, so they have more time to terrorize us and other European countries.
You miss the point. Their country was not saved from the Nazis.
Actually, the Nazis killed off the population in a terrible war in which millions and millions were killed. That millions and millions is in addition to the Jews executed in the Holocaust.
The very large number of Germans that died is incomprehensible compared to the number of Americans.
Because of the absolute rejection of any more war, Germany is allowing a quiet invasion that will destroy the country again.
Sorry, My uncle died over there fighting evil.
