FOX NEWS - Retired Gen. Tom McInerney on Monday said the United States has the capability to take out every city in North Korea, if Kim Jong Un were to fire artillery into Seoul, South Korea.
If he gets our full nuclear retaliatory capability, within minutes after one round going into Seoul, there will be nothing left, McInerney told Liz Claman on Countdown to the Closing Bell. If you go to Airborne Alertwe used to call it Chrome Domewith nuclear weapons and then we start building up our other forces, et cetera, he will not last 15 minutes.
The Hermit Kingdom announced Monday it will take thousands-fold revenge against the United States after the United Nations imposed new sanctions on the communist country on Saturday. The resolution, approved unanimously by the Security Council on Saturday, comes as a result of Pyongyangs repeated ballistic missile tests and efforts to develop a nuclear warhead. The sanctions are aimed at the countrys economy, including stopping the expansions of joint ventures and the exports of coal, lead, lead ore, iron, iron ore and seafood.....

And then we repeated that mistake in Gulf War I.
"When will they ever learn...?"
Yup. And somehow Truman is made out to be the hero for standing up to him.

Truman was a Democrat...they don’t make mistakes. /s
You appear to be well out of your depth on missile technology. We haven’t had a liquid fueled launch platform standing alert in over 30 years. Solid booster design is not that difficult. Silos are for blast-damage protection and ground support equipment, not weather. Where the Norks fail is throw-weight.
I really dont want to commit this country and our service members to another fruitless, trillion dollar war.

I agree. What the US COULD do and what it WILL do may be two entirely different things. If FatBoy made a non-nuclear strike on Seoul we would not respond with a nuclear annihilation of North Korea. We would find ourselves very quickly in a long drawn-out ground war similar to 1950. Anyone who thinks China would not back NK militarily is dreaming.
Truman tried to run again in 52'. He was so wildly unpopular even with the democrats that he dropped out after New Hampshire.
Good old Atomic Annie. As far as what I have heard, it quickly became obsolete. I heard the Russians always knew where Atomic Annie(s) were, so they could be attacked, but I am not positive about it.
We all, rightly, howled that this leak was prima facie evidence of her unfitness to be the President.
Unless this is tactical subterfuge, someone should be asking for this guy's head.
“I hate to say it, but Douglas MacArthur was right. We should have wiped out this regime when we had the chance.”
MacArthur wanted to cross the Yalu River (which separates North Korea from China) and engage the Chinese. Knocking China on it’s a$$ would have lead to a unified Korea, but Truman, like most Democrats was a chicken $hit.
Yeah so many avenues of attack in mass... 100 B1 and B52 on the onset, loaded up with 50 JDAMs (GPS bombs) each that have pinpoint accuracy could do much to suppress all those NK artillery pieces, and the big bombers supplement with 2 to 3 squadrons of F15Es doing the same. In all it would be very fast “Fire and Fury” falling on their heads.
“This man needs to be fired now.”
Which man is that?
Inexplicably, Lincoln fares well historically. Seems like a monstrous blunder on his part - more than 750,000 died under him (this would be about 7-8 million Americans in today’s equivalent).
Because most people tie it into the crying folly of chattel slavery. And indeed this was the bad juju to the South, morally and spiritually speaking. It was bad juju to the North as well, but not as blatantly.
Domino geopolitics had to wait till later to come into vogue.
Still, why didn’t Eisenhower do anything as president? Nobody called off the Korean war. If there was an era of American might in recent yesteryear, surely it was under Eisenhower.

Eisenhower was a “caretaker president.” I guess he thought the country was tired of war after WWII (and Korea), so he just dicked around and played a lot of golf. From my perspective, with the lone exception of Ronald Reagan, we’ve had a bunch of $hit balls for our presidents until Donald J. Trump showed up.
“My wife will be very upset if she is not able to watch her favorite K-Dramas.”
Broaden her language skills by tuning into my wife’s favorite Latin Telenovelas - soaps. Every known plot having been tried (?)if not repeated, the genre has now gone Biblical. “Jose In Egypt” just concluded and the “The Promised Land” is now airing. .... Oye Ve!
“Was I hallucinating from too much kim che???”
Probably too much Soju!
We will set off a few EMPs over North Korea and that will neutralize the electronics that operate their guidance systems, electronic controls, radar, communications and etc. The only thing that will shoot are their long range artillery and that is a doubtful if it requires electronics to control their fire control systems. The Norks would be sitting ducks EMPeed into the dust bin of history.
