Google CEO Sundar Pichai cut his the vacation short and returned to the company's Mountain View, Calif., headquarters as criticism mounted over a senior engineer's controversial memo condemning Google's diversity initiatives. The engineer was subsequently fired.
The memo, which some inside Google jokingly called a "manifesto," was widely shared inside and outside the company.
James Damore wrote that "biological causes" are part of the reason women aren't represented equally in its tech departments and leadership. In addition, Damore said men have a "higher drive for status."
Damore also criticized the company for being an "ideological echo chamber" that made it hard to dissent from "Google's left bias" and "politically correct monoculture." He also faulted the company for offering mentoring and other opportunities to its employees based on gender or race.

that there’s funny. i don’t care who you are...
Google is clearly NOT about Diversity, neither thought diversity nor employee head counts by sex/gender identity/race/ethnicity/intelligence/birthplace/etc. .
And Google just opened the door to the biggest scandal of 2017--one that will make the Trump/Russia kerfuffle seem like a minor event in comparison. And this scandal could engulf all the major tech companies in Silicon Valley in a blink of an eye--Apple, Cisco Systems, Facebook, Netflix, Oracle, Twitter and Yahoo! in addition to Google. And possibly Amazon and Microsoft up in the Seattle area eventually.
LOL;
Zactly.
Total intolerants and science/statistics deniers they are.
I guess the political correctness commissars haven’t been able to handle it.
I predict this CEO will lose his job over this, most likely as a scapegoat. The potential liability in this maneuver is massive and it’s in every executive’s job description to limit risk to the company.
Most politicized organizations do it on the sly; they just make the targeted enemy worker’s life hell until they quit, rather than firing anyone outright.
This lays bare the intolerance and discrimination of companies like Google. The CEO comment confirms this. Google has created a hostile environment, has deep pockets, and hopefully something like this firing will lead to change.
And the lawsuit... discovery will be quite interesting.

Google "American inventors" in English and you'll see whatever "diversity" Google wants to push.
Search it in Spanish, get correct results.
Unlikely.
This has been going on for 20 years in Silicon Valley and all the critical players are now in secure positions of power.
If Faux News had even a smudge of IQ, they would send 3-5 reporters to SV and start interviewing (protected ID) engineers.
Start with Ex HP employees and then move to Ex Intel employees.
“I predict this CEO will lose his job over this, most likely as a scapegoat. “
YES.
And the deep thinkers that could not wait six months or a year for this to blow over?
Too smart by half.
“James Damore wrote a memo describing how Google was intolerant of dissenting voices.”
I’ve never seen a company or organization that was tolerant of dissenting voices. If an employee criticizes the philosophy, management, etc., he’s gone. I suppose that’s life. Best thing to do if you’re not happy with your employer is to find another employer. OTOH, if the employer is engaging in something illegal or immoral, being a whistle blower might be the way to go. Still, be prepared to hit the road.
That is pretty much right. Except if I google “Inventor Americano” most of the inventors are still Black. Amazing.
Interesting that the Google diversity chief said that while in her opinion the writer was incorrect, she noted the inclusiveness of the organization that he could share his comments. Wonder how she reconciles this with the CEO coming along and firing him? If she had any ethical backbone, she should quit in protest.
