Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke on Monday announced the federal government will relax Obama-era rules designed to protect the imperiled sage grouse, saying the administration will offer states flexibility in how they choose to protect the bird and also will loosen restrictions on energy development in sage grouse habitat.

In a statement issued in response to a lengthy report from Interior’s sage grouse review team, Mr. Zinke said the recommendations will go into effect immediately.

Only some, not much.

Zinke has kept a lot of “national monument” projects going on that will tie up a million acres or more of land.

He did revise the “Bears Ears” project in the area around Bundy Ranch in Nevada and Utah.

But Ryan Zinke pointedly did not meet Bundy Family members when he visited the area recently and his security and other Mormon (Never Trumpers?) ranch families Zinke was meeting prevented Brianna Bundy from delivering a letter.

Does this change the absurd rule that no off-road driving is allowed on any BLM land?

That’s great. I’m looking forward to washing machines that clean clothes in one go, like in the good old days.

‘Relaxed’. Not rescinded. Not abolished. Just ‘relaxed’.

The same that can be ‘tightened’ and ‘expanded’ tomorrow, if they wish.

Now, if I only find where said RULES were lawfully passed by the Legislature to have the effect of LAW...Else, I fail to recall where We gave Congress the authority to bequeath their power/authority to ANY agency/dept/etc.

>> administration will offer states flexibility in how they choose to protect the bird .

Many eco-nuts have ( state taxpayer funded , government jobs ) pay checks and benefits tied to these birds, worms, and rodents.

flexibility may include tighter regulations, more historical road and hiking trail closures plus Higher fees ?
