Conservative activist: Kelly’s West Wing changes ‘portend great things’ (Matt Schlapp)

Conservative activist Matt Schlapp on Sunday said John Kelly’s changes as White House chief of staff “portend great things.”

"He has got to get a hold of these agencies,” Schlapp, the chairman of the American Conservative Union, said during an appearance on ABC’s “This Week.”

“They've got to understand that the West Wing has to work with the agencies to develop these policies. So I actually think the changes in the West Wing under General Kelly portend great things.”

Schlapp predicted that Kelly in his new role can fix the challenges facing the Trump administration.

“It was never set up in a way that made sense where you could see it working. For the first time in this administration, I think the president is doing the right things on his agenda,” Schlapp explained.

Trump has some experience with a situation such as the reported chaotic environment of the White House. When Trump was a senior at NY Military Academy he was the Captain of Cadets and a month into his role as Captain he was removed and place in a prestigious but administrative position. Source

Among the reasons given was that discipline had broken down to due Trump's style of delegation.

It seems Trump was smart enough to remove himself this time and delegate direct responsibility to General Kelly.

I think those folks worried about whether Kelly can tame Trump are wrong to worry.

Kelly is Trump's idea and Trump was wise enough to recognize the need.

BTW, apparently Trump has been pleading with Kelly for a while now to take the COS job.

I think Trump’s vacation is a way to remove himself so Kelly can clean house.

I enjoy listening to Matt’s Sunday show on Serius XM but I could do without Mercedes, no offense to her, she is a good conservative but she can get a little too chatty with him. Not a fan of dual host shows anyway, with the exception of Red Eye Radio. They don’t step on each other.

It’s not a vacation, it’s a change of venues.

Working in Bedminster, N.J., as long planned construction is being done at the White House. This is not a vacation – meetings and calls!

Priebus was named COS for one reason only, to shepherd legislation through the Congress.

When Obamacare turned into an Epic Fail he proved he did not need to be there.

Yes, I know, but it is also a way for Trump to step away and let Kelly take charge.

To err is human, to forgive is divine. Neither are Marine Corps policy.

And General John F. Kelley is very much a Marine.

(What, ANOTHER JFK? Hope he does better than the previous two that held high position with the White House.)

(John Fitzgerald Kennedy, and John Forbes Kerry, of course)

I would not be upset if during the renovations it was discovered that the WH has overwhelming structural issues and it will take at least three years to renovate it. Then, the grounds and WH could be a museum.

President Trump stay in NJ? Why not? The administration? Move it somewhere in DC where the swampthings aren't.

“I think Trump’s vacation is a way to remove himself so Kelly can clean house.”

Clean house and “sweep house” of all hidden surveillance equipment and devices currently connected to the war room of ValJar and Hussein down the street. New HVAC system is what we’re being told. I’ll buy that.
