Special Counsel Robert Muller’s team of investigators are deeply concerned they are going to get sued for their work probing ‘Russian interference’ during the 2016 presidential election.
They are so worried that they bought insurance!

Department of Justice investigators purchased liability insurance to guard themselves against potential retaliatory lawsuits brought by the subjects they’re investigating as part of the Russia probe.
The Department would cover any legal fees incurred in the course of duty. However, a number of investigators opted to purchase extra protection as the probe moves further into examining President Donald Trump’s finances and those of his associates, a source familiar with the investigation told CNN.
The investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election led by special counsel Robert Mueller has reportedly expanded into examining possible financial crimes unrelated to Russian election interference.
Trump, who has repeatedly slammed the investigation as a “witch hunt,” argued in a July interview with The New York Times that his financial transactions represented a red line that Mueller should not cross in his investigation.
Mueller does, however, have the authority to investigate Trump’s finances as part of the broad investigative mandate bestowed upon him by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. Mueller has the authority to investigate any matters that “arose or may arise directly from the investigation,” according to Rosenstein’s order appointing Mueller as special counsel.

Hahaha . I hope the get sued and have to pay beyond their insurance. It would also be nice if they were disbarred.
Hmm... it seems like a pretty clear admission that this “investigation” is not about getting to the facts of an actual incident, that it is no more than a witch-hunt. So if the “investigators” name anyone, they open themselves to being sued for slander and libel.
I’m surprised any insurance company would take on that risk.
I also think that prosecutors who bring false cases should be personally held liable for the damage they cause.

Tucker Carlson mentioned this a few weeks ago. He argued that these sorts of investigations ALWAYS find things because everyone has skeletons in their closet.

Mueller is playing with fire. And he is going to get burnt. No amount of insurance is going to save this arrogant evil doer.
At least they are consistent; the ability to buy insurance, being as guiltily as they are now in illegal activity , is in line with the liberal pre-existing conditions mindset.

Of course it has expanded. It’s what special councils and investigators do. They are on the humt, not for the truth, but for corroboration of collusion.
More of this makes it pretty obvious that the Mueller Easter egg hunt is just some silly diversionary tactic from the real foreign collusion and influence scandal: DNC/Wasserman Schultz/foreign contractors/Pakistan/Russia, etc.

I think maybe Trump's team let it be known through 3rd channels that lawsuits are in the offing if this gets out of hand.
(Trump's law team aren't novices, either.)
The reason for all of the corruption in Washington is that there is a "professional courtesy" among the crooks. They don't investigate each other because they all have dirty laundry.
Once the trust is broken, they will all be open to investigation. Maybe in the end this will be a good thing. Trump needs to bring in another special investigator. I kind of like Cruz for this job but I don't know if he has the correct background. But someone like him would work.
Purchasing this type of insurance is common for federal employees. That they purchased it here means absolutely nothing.
Trump can buy the very best counsel, and they will find out all they need to know about the people and activities in this circus act.
That is why my opinion is, they will deliver a nothing burger in 12 months and everyone will be off raging about the next Trump scandal.
Enough gameplay , sue them , arrest them and cut them off from all support.
How about an open ended lawsuit where discovery goes on for years until we find a crime?

The days are over when Americans could say with pride--much deserved pride--that after the elections everyone accepted the results peacefully and wholeheartedly.
The peace, tolerance, open-mindedness, liberty, and justice that once characterized the United States--and of which her citizens were justly proud--were sabotaged and undone by the same decadent, violent, misguided, and sometimes evil people who are now trying to sabotage and undo the 2016 election.
Americans have allowed evil and decadence to sabotage the U.S.A. itself and to undo all the blessings that their forefathers fought and died to provide for them, and they will reap the horrifying consequences of their foolishness.
There is a special place in hell for those who squander and deny to their heirs the blessings that they have inherited.
