The Senate moved unanimously to block President Trump from making appointments during the August break this evening. Democrats had said they'd make such a move after reports emerged that Trump was considering replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions during the recess.
The Senate agreed to hold pro forma sessions throughout the recess. This procedure was also used to block appointments during the Obama administration.
Worth noting: the announcement was made by moderate Republican Lisa Murkowski, who split from Trump over health care. The Senate also made a slew of confirmations and passed several measures before shutting down for the summer.
Another update: The Senate will not hold any legislative sessions until September. Mitch McConnell had previously intended to delay the break until August 11 to allow the now-stalled health care plan to move forward.
Otherwise, they would not be protecting him. Sessions rolled over like a dog, the Swamp laughed themselves silly at how easy it was, and almost immediately deployed a "Special Counsel" and army of treasonous lawyers to destroy the Trump Presidency.
And people on this board still defend Jeff Sessions! Unbelievable.
I like your solution
Don’t forget McCain.
He should just order Congress back into session. That would get their goat.

Yes. I want to see him fight back - and not just with words at a rally.
President Trump - don’t just tell people to call Congress. YOU do something. Keep them there physically and make the useless bastards work. Pull their health coverage. Make their lives hell in every way you can until they cooperate with you.
Same with Hillary - all well and good to say that her misdeeds should be investigated, but why aren’t you ordering Sessions to do so? Or have you? America is sick of “investigations” that go on for year after year after year and never get resolved because all that the scumbag politicians seem to know how to do is to push the ball forward and collect their paychecks.
It appears that the conservative sleeping giant is waking up and all becoming your screen name. This is going to get real interesting.
They are the two biggest and slimiest lizzards in that fetid swamp.
Your tag line is very true and a mindset that Trump’s 60 million needs to adopt.
The Senate has dropped any pretense of supporting the President. Trump is the peoples’ President and the ruling Uniparty doesn’t think much of the people. It is going to take people power to win back the country. Senators need to be hounded during the break and made to understand what will happen if the coup plotters succeed in taking the President down.
Cut their health care and put them on obabacare.
I’m pretty sure he has the power to cancel their recesses for national emergency purposes. North Korea is acting up and with the Senate’s sanctions on Russia, that relationship is now unstable, too.
Cornholio.
Is conservative one year out of every six. Care to guess which year?
“He should just order Congress back into session. That would get their goat.”
You are far from being the only one giving that consideration.
While those punks are on recess he should hold mega rallies in their states and call out the backstabbing republican traitors by name.
Let’s not forget that we are the SILENT majority. What we must do however is encourage and support conservatives in upcoming primaries and primary out those rino bastards.
‘Unanimous consent’ is not at all the same thing as a unanimous vote.
Probably there were very few senators present.
Murkowski has got to go. She is not a Republican and needs to stop pretending to be one.
Don’t these dolts realize EVERY candidate they put up LOST last year?
They don’t really care about the voters. They have the levers of power and the military.
IMO, the Tea Party has too much baggage to the name... I would like to see something like ‘The American Party”, I could Vote for that!!!
Yeah, like these SOBs were really gonna give up one day of their junkets.
