A group of fishermen in a boat off of Maines coast recently found a bald eagle struggling to swim in the Atlantic Ocean.
The encounter and subsequent rescue was caught on video and shared via social media.

A Phoenix story. The bird rested, got its strength back and flew off. I pray your analogy is correct.

Amen.
It is truly unbelievable the lengths that all of D.C. Is going to to defeat Trump.
I pray for that man every time I read the newest treachery.
Dear Lord, please, guide and strengthen us.
Tatt
Yes, we need to pray for our Pres and our country. We have to many traitors in DC.
Bald eagle snatches Osprey fledge from the nest as Opreycam records it!
Amazing footage. Three osprey fledges in the nest, and out of the fog, a bald eagle appears going hell for leather right for the nest (pretty spooky) with a parent Osprey in hot pursuit...all three fledges react differently.
One sees the threat and jumps out of the nest before he is ready to fly...he lives.
One hunkers down in the back of the nest...he lives.
One just stands on the edge of the nest watching it fly in...he gets snatched up by the eagle...he dies.
Astonishing footage.
This one seems a bit better for some reason, but you might have to watch a stupid commercial...

Happens so fast you really don’t know what you are seeing.
It would symbolize America if the fishermen were then promptly arrested by the Dept. of the Interior for illegally handling an endangered species.
That was one extremely pissed off bird after doing the butterfly. Hope he found his way home.
I thought it was spook and full of doom the way the eagle appeared in the fog zooming up towards the nest...
Death on wings!
The second video through Fox News is better and you clearly see what happens, but they do make you watch a commercial.
I am also up in ME. Taking a week on the Kennebec. Off shore from the cabin is a large buoy. On the top is an osprey nest, well tended with juveniles still present. A bald eagle learned that the ospreys were seriously on-guard the other day and has not been back.
The cormarants, gulls and terns all keep it interesting.
Funny, we are right on the water...some lobster boats commute to work each morning. The other morning, two of them set up shop a few hundred yards off the shore of our cottage at 0530 and I heard them. I couldn't hear exactly what they were saying, but the tone was clear enough. (They seemed to be setting a net to catch some bait fish for their traps)
Sound (especially voices) seem to travel quite clearly over the water when it is quiet!
The was one guy talking to the other two (actually doing all the talking) trying to teach them it appeared, and it sounded (with a Maine accent) kind of like this: "You take this line, and do this...no...no, not like that, like this...Jesus Christ, get your head out of your ass, like this...no...for God's sake, are you sitting on your brains?"
Heh, it went on for several hours and when I went out my wife (who had been up since about 0400 painting her paintings) shook her head in silence and asked if I could hear them...it was pretty funny. She had been listening to them the whole time while me, still in bed, drifted in and out...:)
I could live up here.
The wife has been looking at real estate listings and I said before we talk to an agent we have to come back up here for two weeks in January.
It is our second time in coastal Maine and we do love it. We already have a wonderful small home outside Phoenix and a cabin in the Ozarks.
Tell your wife that I am going to Boothbay Harbor for 3 days for nothing but painting scenic photos I capture there. Great little Harbor. We will also ride a boat on an offshore lighthouse round to see seven.
LOL, we are in Bremen right now (apparently pronounced “Bree-men” instead of “Breh-men” because the people didn’t want to be confused with the German city!
I can take the winters. I could never, ever go to Florida because I don’t handle hot weather well, but...I can do cold weather!
We go to Boothbay often...:)
