Six month wait for 65-year-old skydiver's glaucoma appointment is 'unacceptable'
By JoeBulmer | Posted: July 31, 2017
A 65-year-old Devon skydiver suffering with glaucoma has had to wait for months to have his condition looked at and the man's hospital has admitted "patients are waiting longer" to be seen.
David Tylcoat, from Burrington near Chulmleigh, is meant to have a routine eye exam every six months to check how his condition is being managed.
Two weeks ago David rang the Eye Clinic at North Devon District Hospital to find out why he had not received a notification to come in for his six monthly check.
"I was told that they are six months behind on appointments," said David. "This would have put me six months late, something I find unacceptable - this is my eyesight."

Joe Biden Reportedly Called John McCain Ahead Of Crucial Obamacare Repeal Vote
A friend of mine who lives in Portugal told me she needs an MRI... and so she has an appointment - IN OCTOBER.
I told her I could get an MRI right now for me and my dog AND a ham sandwich if I wanted to, and it was Sunday Evening.

"I don't see anything wrong with Obamacare"
Are Skydivers a protected Class?
“Coming to America.....”
It’s already here - if you are on Medicare or VA especially! I have a dear friend who lives in a small town and there is only ONE doctor in their whole area who does cataract surgery AND accepts Medicare. My friend’s surgery has been scheduled for December, maybe, if no one else bumps him before then.
My friends live two hours away from a large metropolitan city that has dozens of doctors who could do the surgery but they are not “authorized” to use any of those doctors, even if they pay for their own hotel and travel expenses.
Course John “Songbird” McCain has no such problems with HIS health plan - GRRRRR!!
Would your plan cover John McCains treatment?
The Arizona Senator’s health plan will ensure top-notch glioblastoma treatment, but how would Americans with other health coverage fare?

Last week, we heard the sad news that Senator John McCain has been diagnosed with glioblastoma. McCain had surgery at Phoenixs Mayo Clinic in mid-July, and its expected that hell also receive chemotherapy and radiation, along with other potential treatments. Senator McCain has proven time and again that hes tough as nails, and appears to be facing this latest battle head-on. One thing that he likely has on his side is top-notch health insurance.
McCain is 80, which means hes presumably been on Medicare for 15 years. Currently serving federal lawmakers are able to obtain employer-subsidized coverage in the Washington DC small-business exchange, and they can have this coverage in addition to Medicare.
How good is McCains coverage?
McCain hasnt said publicly exactly what insurance he has, and his office has not responded to my inquiry. But the most likely scenario is that he has Medicare plus employer-sponsored coverage through the DC exchange a very comprehensive benefits package.
There are certainly lots of other people who have similar coverage arrangements either because theyre still working after turning 65, like McCain, or because they receive generous retiree health benefits that supplement their Medicare coverage. For those who dont, there are private Medicare supplements available that cover virtually all of the out-of-pocket costs associated with Medicare.
But health coverage in the United States is a bit of a mixed bag, with some people having much better coverage than others. A serious illness tends to shine a spotlight on the flaws that exist in some health plans, so lets take a look at how the average American facing a glioblastoma diagnosis would fare under various health plans.

Here’s a good one.
My hubby is on Medicare. He has to be by law. We have supplemental insurance. He needed surgery. We got the bill. Medicare paid for the surgery but wouldn’t pay for the anesthesia. Government doesn’t care if you’re in pain.
They didnt mind watching months go by waiting for Charlie Gard to die.
Single Payer; when you are a cost center rather than a profit center, you are treated differently.
Its a big difference. You need new tires. Imagine getting those from the government that has decided tires are a right. You are nothing but a cost to be reduced as much as possible.
If someone can get rich by selling you a tire, you will practically have people coming to your house to sell you a tire. Prices will drop, etc etc.
Idiots.
What do you expect when health care is “free”? Everyone wants everything treated by a doctor because it costs them nothing.
Have everyone go to a high deductible, low cost insurance with a HSA (especially for self employed) and then require all medical providers to post the cost of their services online. If you need an MRI done, go online and find out how much everyone charges in your area and go to the cheapest/best one for you.
Just like drug prices are posted on https://www.goodrx.com/
Yup! Most MRI centers I've used here in Connecticut operate 24/7.
SO damn glad I was born an American...
Yep, so are thousands of others thanks to the Democrats.
This is the model that Obamacare was supposed to bring to America.
