The first news reports of House IT staffer Imran Awan's Monday arrest "for attempting to flee the country and charged with bank fraud" came out on Fox on Monday night. The New York Times did not file a related story until Friday afternoon, roughly 72 hours later, for Saturday's print edition.
Reporter Nicholas Fandos's Page A18 item is one of the most obvious and disgraceful attempts at misdirection and reality avoidance one will ever see, starting with its headline, which, incredibly, makes it appear as if this scandal, which the Democratic Party entirely owns, involves President Donald Trump.
Here is that headline:
Any reader who was previously unaware of this scandal would surely believe, based on this headline, that it's Republicans who have a problem, and that the I.T. person formerly worked for the Trump administration.
That the Times deliberately composed this headline to deceive isn't arguable. The paper knows that this story is about Democrats, and the story's URL, which reflects a headline used earlier Friday "imran-awan-debbie-wasserman-shultz-pakistan.html" (nice touch there, misspelling the congresswoman's name) proves that a previous genuinely informative headline was suppressed.

The left can spin this one all they want. It won’t help them. Once all the facts come out the, the plea bargains begin, and the prosecutions commence, this will be a scandal that can’t be spun.
Minus the hype, this has a Watergate feel to it.
It involves access to the most sensitive areas on Capitol Hill, fraud, the Congressional Credit Union, the head of the DNC , the Capitol Hill police were threatened and who knows what else.
The headline hungry press should be all over this...right??
So here is why the NYT is doing this totally false lying!
“Bombshell dropped on ‘Russia, Russia, Russia’ mantra”

Why it’s suddenly the last thing Democrats want to discuss!
Something very odd but extremely significant just happened in American politics, in practically the blink of an eye.
The establishment media have gone from virtual 24/7 coverage of the narrative that President Trump colluded with Russia to crickets, and they did it overnight.
How far has Russia fallen off the medias radar? So far, that, in a jaw-dropping role-reversal, it is actually the White House now pushing the story on the media.
And why is the White House suddenly embracing the Russia story? Because it is now poised to boomerang on the Democrats, big time, following a pivotal Senate Judiciary committee hearing on Thursday.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's a good one.
Interesting. I guess to stay alive in the Stratosphere where Drudge lives, he needs to often be careful.
He lacks true "free speech". He's being controlled, somewhat, probably by the media giants whose stories he's highlighting.
Maybe the Arkanacide team has warned him.
Even the WSJ is still ignoring the story. However, I think ignoring the story is less of a joke than the Timesâs trying to pin the story on Trump. I actually laughed when I read that story. Eventually, the WSJ will cover it...and the angle won’t be about how Trump created the story.
Our key word search, itgate, has so much bad stuff for the lying mediots and their lefties. One can only imagine how big it will be after the next few months.

The FBI arrested Awan and no doubt the CIA is now involved in Pakistan.
This is only going to gather steam....
A pathetic desperate attempt from the control freaks at the NY Times
Waiting for the advertisers to massively stop advertising with the NY Slimes, Faux, ABCNNBCBS because of their fake news. Why?
When some heavy duty stock owners/mutual fund owners t bring lawsuits against major advertisers, as stock owners of advertisers.
The suits will note that the Ny Slimes and the companies buying the ads, wasted valuable advertising $’s to support the NY Slimes fake news and the democrat party.
Last but not least more good people like Sarah Palin will nail the NY Slimes in personal lawsuits noting that the NY Slimes lied about them and printed fake news about them.
....good search term......I use it frequently.....
You got it. The WSJ will drag its feet, but will cover it eventually. The Times’s coverage will be grudging and a joke until or unless the story REALLY explodes.
“Minus the hype, this has a Watergate feel to it.”
Yes it feels a lot like Watergate except for two difference, the first difference being that the stuff that’ll soon come out is going to make Nixon look like a Boy Scout.
“The headline hungry press should be all over this...right??”
That’s the other difference.
I think the Times has a standing committee to check out every news story for sufficient Trump-bashing. Every story has an anti-Trump angle, even the restaurant reviews. They managed to get one into a story on the retiring book review editor yesterday or the day before.
The op-ed pages was solid Trump-stomping—all four op-eds.
“Drudge is no better. Not a hint of the story on Drudge. Buried.”
Drudge no longer cares about news. He cares about hit counts.
Today’s Drudge is chock full of anti-Trump BS!
