As Obamacare was winding its way through the Senate in 2009, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa) slipped in an amendment requiring that members of Congress, and their staff, enroll in Obamacares health insurance exchanges. The idea was simple: that if Congress was going to impose Obamacare upon the country, it should have to experience what it is imposing firsthand. But now, word comes that Congress is quietly seeking to rescind that provision of the law, because members fear that staffers who face higher insurance costs will leave the Hill. The news has sparked outrage from the right and left. Heres the back story, and why this debate is crucial to the future of market-based health reform.
Sen. Grassleys original idea was to require all federal employees to enroll in the exchanges, instead of in the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program, where most gain coverage today. Indeed, a previous Senate Finance Committee amendment proposed putting members and staffers on Medicaid. But fierce opposition from federal employee unions sank Grassleys effort, and he had to water his amendment down to only apply to Congress and congressional staff.

Put everybody on Obamacare OR take everybody off. With everybody off, there is nothing to fight about.
“Put everybody on Obamacare OR take everybody off.”........
The government has NO BUSINESS dictating insurance coverage, they have screwed up everything they touch and this is a perfect example of their ineptness.
President Trump is threatening to take away their subsidies and exemptions. Going to be interesting.
If these staffer had actual “Brains” (not just Machiavellian cunning), we want them in the private sector, not wasted in Congress.
Here fools you get this but we don’t have to has to end ...they pass it they should live by it...
GOP better get new leadership....or get something done fast...
Have the bastards left town for the six weeks off...
Maybe the working people should quit for six weeks
That would drain the swamp...no money
Now, I have class envy.
I wonder what kind of treatment Senator McCain would get on Obamacare.
“Take these opiods and try to enjoy the rest of your remaining days.”
Brains?
In Congress?
Bwahahahahahaha.

I remember it like it was yesterday. How about giving all Americans the choice to ‘opt out’?

We the People shouldn’t need permission from our servants.
Course, that was when we were a Republic too.
Odd, the brain drain started way before Obamacare.
Give the fools what ive got, a fixed income and premiums that go up 50% a year.
At best adjust their income for inflation and watch them fall behind.
If they are put on it and still paid using the same compensation formula there will be little pain in it for them.
Gotta make it hurt really bad.
