Second Special Counsel Called for by House Judiciary Committee to Investigate Obama Administration

The House Judiciary Committee on Thursday called for the appointment of a second special counsel to investigate matters relating to actions taken by members of the Obama administration.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte of Virginia and other Republicans in the committee sent a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein asking for the second counsel to investigate matters related to former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, former FBI Director James Comey and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

"We are writing to you to request assistance in restoring public confidence in our nation's justice system and its investigators, specifically the Department of Justice and the FBI," the letter says. "We need to enable these agencies to perform their necessary and important law enforcement and intelligence functions full unhindered by politics."

Read the full letter below: [click on source link for this]

The letter followed the House Judiciary Committee's approval of H. Res. 446 on Wednesday, a request for documents that pertain to the DOJ's investigation into Clinton.

Many Democrats and members of the Washington media previously called for a "special prosecutor" to investigate Russian influence on the election and connections with the Trump campaign. Not surprisingly, once you actually made the decision to appoint a special counsel, the calls for further investigations by congressional committees continued, focused on allegations that have heretofore produced no evidence of criminality, despite the fact that over a year has passed since the opening of the original FBI investigation. Political gamesmanship continues to saturate anything and everything associated with reactions to President Trump's executive decisions, and reveals the hypocrisy of those who refuse to allow the Special Counsel's investigation to proceed without undue political influence. It is an unfortunate state of affairs.

In the letter, members of the committee express concern that the responsibility given to special counsel Robert Mueller "is narrow in scope and many concerns arising out of the 2016 presidential election and its aftermath are not being investigated."

Specifically, the committee wants to investigate further into "concerns" like the directive Lynch gave to Comey on the nature of the investigation into Clinton's emails.

Some in Congress now want me to......appoint a Special Counsel to (gulp), investigate Hillary, Obama, Brennan, Podesta, and those Pakistani spies at the DNC?

I mean, that will make a lot of waves....lots and lots of waves...and, I recused myself, you know, because I am a man of such integrity, honor, pride, and selflessness....and humble! I am very, VERY humble.

I don't want to do this difficult stuff of holding people accountable, I want to be "Above it All" and talk about fun stuff......

Like the D.A.R.E program!

House Judiciary Committee Request for Special Counsel - July 27, 2017

I thought the "heavy.com" page included a link to this letter, but it does not, or didn't when I looked for it, or I just couldn't find it.

They should amend the Mueller mandate. No need for another prosecutor.

Yea Bob Goodlatte, too bad Sessions didn’t come up with this on his own. Now let’s see if Sessions at least follows through, if not can him.

“They should amend the Mueller mandate. No need for another prosecutor.”

I strongly disagree. IMHO Mueller is tainted.

“They should amend the Mueller mandate.”

Mueller’s one of them. No sense in leaving the fox in charge of the hen house. If a Special Counsel is appointed (I prefer Grand Jury which actually means something), he/she needs to be someone fair. That would exclude Mueller.

“Rudy Rudy Rudy Rudy”

That would be a good choice. Stack the thing with Republican lawyers.

Looks like republicans finally figured out that the Awan scandal is going to bring the house of cards down.

Think it through, why did it take this long, when we have know for so long a ton of wrong doings. These republicans do not fear the dems, rinos and deep state at the moment(and there was a great reason to fear them up till now).

As we've all witnessed, any investigation by congress of democrat criminality is always just an excersize in sweeping things under the rug.

We don’t need a second special counsel or a first one for that matter.

The DOJ needs to be gutted in its entirety...Starting with that rat sessions.

“They should amend the Mueller mandate. No need for another prosecutor.”

Seriously!? You think Mueller, and his cadre of Democrats would actually investigate their own?

Maybe they’ll make a really good show of it, but nothing would come of such investigations by them IMO.

“I have a feeling that after months of searching they will find “nothing”.”

The point of the special counsel is to unseat Trump by finding ‘something’...anything, even if they have to manufacture it, to give legitimacy for impeachment.

I actually suspect that and a good investigation would lead to Mueller as a participant in the whole Lynch Fiasco. Imagine the fact that the sitting investigator would be questioned under oath regarding another criminal investigation along with 90% of his appointed staff as they all work for the Clinton Foundation or the DNC
