Attorney General Jeff Sessions is pressing on with his job despite President Trump's public criticism of him, and plans to announce in coming days a number of criminal leak investigations, according to a report Tuesday night.
The Washington Post says Sessions is preparing to announce a series of leak probes related to recent news accounts publishing "sensitive intelligence information."
Earlier Tuesday, Trump said he is "disappointed" that Sessions hasn't been tougher on leaks from the intelligence community.
"I want the attorney general to be much tougher on the leaks from intelligence agencies, which are leaking like rarely have they ever leaked before at a very important level," Trump said during a press conference in the Rose Garden. "These are intelligence agencies. We cannot have that happen."
The comments were a continuation of Trump's week-long public criticism of Sessions, which have stoked speculation the president may fire his attorney general, or push him to resign.
Trump's criticisms about Sessions began last week, when the president told the New York Times he is disappointed that Sessions recused himself from the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Trump has since publicly criticized the attorney general on Twitter, calling him "beleaguered" and questioning why Sessions hasn't investigated Hillary Clinton.
The Post reported Tuesday night that in a recent conversation, Sessions' chief of staff Jody Hunt told White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus that the attorney general has no intention of resigning.
Sessions continued his work on policy Tuesday, issuing new requirements to a Justice Department grant program so that so-called sanctuary cities that limit their role in helping enforce federal immigration law do not receive funding.
May need a trailer load of orange jumpsuits after all’s said and done.
Or Judge Jeanine...assuming she is qualified.
What about the criminal acts of obama and the Clintons?!
Probably arrest a Republican.
So far The way I see it is A.G, Sessions taking the same position as Comey.
I guess since Sessions is a former Senator. He does not want to go after fellow formal Senators Hillary Clinton and Obama?
Good fairy tale.................
Either that or he took a hint and got rolling. I prefer your explanation, though. Let’s see how close to Hillary the coming arrests get.
... according to criminal leakers.
Roger that. I want to see some hemp stretched and the FERAL Governments electric bill go sky high
You have some real talent that is going to waste
Good! It’s time.
Actually, since I first post it. Two things are happening. See #1 and #2 in the updated version.
The Swamp Twister Game*
Trump paints Sessions as ineffective while in reality Sessions has been diligently building towards a set of indictments starting with Awan and the Dems associated with him. Takes their eyes off the ball and maybe even goads them into publicly defending the very guy whos about to take them down. Also a big FU to the NYT by using them as a tool to trick the dems. He feeds them obvious BS showing they are beneath his contempt.
If things play out according to this angle it will be truly delicious.
During and after the verbal abuse of Sessions by Trump. The left begins to love and protect Sessions including the Mediots. The GOPe gives Session their support and condemn Trump:
This allows Sessions to go on a unforeseen raiding/scalping party. Jeff fires Mueller and his left wing lawyers Then, he fires any remaining liberals in the FBI and DOJ. Next he brings charges against the Clintons, Podesta and DNC leaders claiming they were in bed with Mexico, Russia and the Ukrainians and led/allowed meddling in last years election. Then, Jeff goes after the ChiComs for meddling in our 2016 elections.
Next, he can start withholding federal $s from any sanctuary city and state. (1)
Then, he can start announcing results in his Criminal Leaking Investigations: (2)
While the mediots and the Deep Staters go ballistic, Trump can say that Sessions acted on his own, but it was too late to reverse what he had done.
He will then say that Sessions will remain as AG until his replacement is approved quickly by the Senate.
Now, Trump can pick another AG to replace Sessions. His big club will be, Approve my AG replacement or I will leave Sessions in charge! If that happens, none of you will be around in a year. He will investigate all of you. You all know that Sessions is a bona fide crazy conservative from the Deep South. He hates all of you. So quickly approve my new AG!”
After President Trumps replacement AG is approved by the Senate. Sessions retires and goes home to write his personal novel “I was an Attorney General”
Year later when Pence is president, Sessions releases that book telling, how he and Trump conned the Senate and the mediots into allowing/abetting Sessions to drain the swamp.

How the Justice Dept. is forcing sanctuary cities to cooperate with immigration agents:

The Justice Department issued a new warning to sanctuary cities Tuesday, saying they must prove they fully cooperate with immigration agents in order to claim federal law enforcement grant money.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions said jurisdictions that dont allow federal agents into their prisons and jails, and that refuse to give at least 48 hours notice before releasing illegal immigrants, will lose money.
This is what the American people should be able to expect from their cities and states, and these long overdue requirements will help us take down MS-13 and other violent transnational gangs, and make our country safer, he said.

It was Rosenstein, Mueller or Sessions that leaked the info about the leaks....or maybe Reibus...I know I got the spelling all wrong and I don’t care.
There’s nothing in the wording that definitively implies that the investigations Sessions will be talking about are brand new investigations. Based on the wording, his announcements could very well be announcements on impending indictments related to investigations that have been ongoing. We’ll see.
In case you haven’t noticed there has always been a taboo on Presidents going after their predecessors.
If you think a former President [or first lady] will ever be brought to justice by any president in power, including Trump, you are ignoring history and probably spend every Halloween sitting in a pumpkin patch waiting for the Great Pumpkin. If Sessions isn’t going after the Clintons, it is because Trump wants it that way, regardless of Trump’s red meat rhetoric.
Lesser officials are another matter, they should be targeted with a vengeance to deter future aides from joining enthusiastically in their bosses’ corrupt tendencies, but Presidents have a customary get out of jail free card, and the Clintons and Obama are well aware of the immunity rule, which is why they were so bold.
No wonder Trump has been hinting he wanted Sessions to quit. Pressure to make Sessions go to work on the leaks.
Interesting conjectures. So do you think Pence will run for President in 2020, or that Trump will be gone before then. You speak of “a year later”. Your time table on Senate action on a new AG???
