Jeff Sessions plans to announce criminal leak investigations in coming days: Report
Washington Examiner ^

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is pressing on with his job despite President Trump's public criticism of him, and plans to announce in coming days a number of criminal leak investigations, according to a report Tuesday night.

The Washington Post says Sessions is preparing to announce a series of leak probes related to recent news accounts publishing "sensitive intelligence information."

Earlier Tuesday, Trump said he is "disappointed" that Sessions hasn't been tougher on leaks from the intelligence community.

"I want the attorney general to be much tougher on the leaks from intelligence agencies, which are leaking like rarely have they ever leaked before at a very important level," Trump said during a press conference in the Rose Garden. "These are intelligence agencies. We cannot have that happen."

The comments were a continuation of Trump's week-long public criticism of Sessions, which have stoked speculation the president may fire his attorney general, or push him to resign.

Trump's criticisms about Sessions began last week, when the president told the New York Times he is disappointed that Sessions recused himself from the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Trump has since publicly criticized the attorney general on Twitter, calling him "beleaguered" and questioning why Sessions hasn't investigated Hillary Clinton.

The Post reported Tuesday night that in a recent conversation, Sessions' chief of staff Jody Hunt told White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus that the attorney general has no intention of resigning.

Sessions continued his work on policy Tuesday, issuing new requirements to a Justice Department grant program so that so-called sanctuary cities that limit their role in helping enforce federal immigration law do not receive funding.

President Trump has been providing cover for Sessions and the media ate it up.

Thank you President Trump.

Thank you Mr. Sessions.

I think Americans have endured all the “investigations” they need to endure. How about just arresting and trying the leaking bastards and their “massas” in the treasonous, mainstream media.

House Intelligence Committee met with Ben Rhodes: Report

Jul 25, 2017

The Intelligence Committee is also investigating intelligence leaks, and Rhodes has become a person of interest for certain Republicans as someone who may be playing a role in the leaking of classified information from the Trump administration to reporters.

Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., who is not a member of the intelligence panel, has accused Rhodes of being a primary source of the leaks causing harm to the Trump administration and called on Trump to remove all Obama official holdovers from his administration. The Florida Republican said in an interview on MSNBC earlier this month that Rhodes may be in contact with Obama holdovers in the National Security Council, who are behind the “selective leaking” hurting Trump’s ability to conduct foreign policy.

House conservatives gunning for probe of James Comey, Hillary Clinton
FOX News ^ | July 28, 2017 | Josh Siegel

A group of House conservatives has filed an amendment asking the Justice Department for information related to former FBI Director James Comey’s handling of the Hillary Clinton email case.

The amendment, first reported by the Washington Post, demands information on “leaks by James B. Comey,” on “the propriety and consequence of immunity deals given to possible Hillary Clinton co-conspirators” and Comey’s decision to “usurp the authority of then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch in his unusual announcement that criminal charges would not be brought against” Clinton.

Should have announced it 6 months ago.

Maybe Jeffy thought leaking was in the job description?

Have any of the stories about this made clear whether these are new, or ongoing investigations?

I don't think the U.S. Attorney General is going to be announcing an investigation unless there are substantive announcements about arrests, indictments, etc.

Remember ... In the letters that Sessions and Rosenstein drafted several months ago in which they laid out the reasons for FBI director Comey to be fired, they identified his July 2016 press conference announcing the Clinton investigation as a violation of Department of Justice protocols. The DOJ as a matter of policy doesn't announce that someone is under investigation.

Sun, magnifying glass, turtle now moving?

Maybe, but as suggested, is this another leak?

I hope you won’t get too disappointed when Sessions gets escorted out of DOJ and sent home.

Shouldn't be announcing leak investigations at all. Should just be doing them.

With all this criticism of Sessions regarding investigations of leaks in the vast intelligence apparatus, has the White House successfully ended all leaks in the tiny by comparison White House staff?

Now we know that the Sessions DOJ has not investigated any leaks and will only start now.

Please note the “coming announcement” is about leak INVESTIGATIONS. No subjects noted, no indictments, no subjects will be noted IMO. So, the response to Trump’s criticism is hey lookee here boss, we are actually doing (beginning) some investigations. Get back to you when they are done.

“Shouldn’t be announcing leak investigations at all. Should just be doing them.”

Well let’s hope he’s hitting the Clinton/Obama laundry list of about fifteen different scandals.

I don, think these investigations should be announce. Let the MSM find out when the Grand Jury is convened or even when arrests are made and some prominent bureaucrats can be photographed in handcuffs.

I don’t think he is going to be escorted out. I think there is a lot more going on than we know.

Leaks about leaks is getting old.

What I want to see on conservative blog sites (if not on the evening news) are videos of gonad-shredding-K-9-assisted arrests of sensitive intelligence information leakers.
