Iran learned the allowed proximity to an American warship. Thats what they wanted to know
Make them think that's the trigger point, don't need another USS Cole with an explosive packed speedboat. So next time they get within 500 yards give them a cannon enema instead of a .50 cal. A one second phalanx burst would be fun to watch the reaction.

No need to. We did what we had to do today. It sent a clear message.

Don’t forget “cry.” Remember the sailor that cried because of the mean ole Iranians who yelled boo at them.

Well actually they weren’t attacking but getting closer than the captain of the ship wanted hence the warning shots.

The Coast Guard is under Navy control only during a declared war. Did someone declare war? Otherwise, what were two Coast Guard vessels doing so far away from the coast of the United States?

During the 60’s USCG patrolled Vietnamese coast.

Real unusual. Except there were USCG vessels and personnel in Viet Nam and almost all of those poor f*ckers I talked to were overjoyed when they got accepted into the Coast Guard so they wouldn’t have to go to Viet Nam.

The USS Thunderbolt, alone, could probably sink the bulk of the Iranian navy.
And she’s but 339 tons.
But she could support dual Harpoon launchers if the USN was smart enough to mount them.

Iran learned the allowed proximity to an American warship. Thats what they wanted to know. In WWII, the British grounded one of their own WW1 destroyers into a Nazi submarine dock. An intentionally-delayed explosion killed many of the enemy when it blew up the following day. 'Hoping we remember such tactics when the enemy should collide larger ships with ours.

They were allowed to wave with two hands held straight up. And the women were allowed to immediately don hijabs to protect the Iranians from actually seeing a woman’s hair with all the damage that might do to the lads.

What an odd name for a US ship. Unless there was like an Admiral Thunderbolt I’ve never heard of, that would be awesome.

We have US Coast Guard ships in the Mediterranean?
