President Trump has floated the possibility of replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions with his steadfast ally Rudy Giuliani to serve in the top Justice Department post, Axios reported Monday.
Trump broached the idea in internal discussions about bringing in and surrounding himself with staunch supporters, sources within the West Wing told the news outlet.
Before The New York Times interview last week, Trump had already expressed anger and frustration at Sessions for recusing himself from the Russia investigation, Axios reports.
Trump, during the interview, opined that Sessions' decision to recuse himself was "unfair" to him and he would've likely picked another person to lead the Justice Department if he had known this is the move Sessions would make.
In a tweet on Monday, Trump went after Sessions, calling him beleaguered and questioned why the attorney general and federal investigators are not looking into Hillary Clinton for her crimes and ties to Russia.

1. He was a loyal Trump supported in the campaign (and one of the only ones to get on TV in the days after the infamous "Access Hollywood" tape was released), but anyone who had seen him in action over the years could tell that his age was really starting to become a factor for him.
2. I thought it highly unlikely that he'd give up his successful security consulting business to take on a role in the public sector at this stage of his life.
Yup. I believe you are totally correct. He will leave eventually.
Recusing from any prospective investigation into Russian meddling in the election process. That's why Franken kept asking Sessions about meetings with Russians during the confirmation hearings.
What Trump is doing to Sessions is bush league and totally unprofessional. You handle those issues and disagreements in private.
True
During the course of the confirmation proceedings on my nomination to be Attorney General, I advised the Senate Judiciary Committee that [i]f a specific matter arose where I believed my impartiality might reasonably be questioned, I would consult with Department ethics officials regarding the most appropriate way to proceed.
During the course of the last several weeks, I have met with the relevant senior career Department officials to discuss whether I should recuse myself from any matters arising from the campaigns for President of the United States.
Having concluded those meetings today, I have decided to recuse myself from any existing or future investigations of any matters related in any way to the campaigns for President of the United States.
I have taken no actions regarding any such matters, to the extent they exist.
This announcement should not be interpreted as confirmation of the existence of any investigation or suggestive of the scope of any such investigation.
Consistent with the succession order for the Department of Justice, Acting Deputy Attorney General and U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia Dana Boente shall act as and perform the functions of the Attorney General with respect to any matters from which I have recused myself to the extent they exist.
Yes!

Would Giuliani leave the dresses at home?
Discovering you have cancer might make other persuits seem non-essential.
He had a chance to challenge her in 2008 but had to withdraw due to a lack of interest on the voters part.
More the part of the GOP since it was McNasty's turn.
“That comes directly from DoJ.”
False. ICE has nothing to do with the DOJ.
In 6 months Sessions has gone after some pot smokers and that’s about it.
On what day did Trump change his mind? And yes, Sessions is more than up to the task. Is Trump up to the task of issuing a clear and specific instruction(in private) to the DOJ rather than sending out tweet after tweet?
Rudy was the obvious choice in the first place, but I don't think Rudy wanted to take the pay cut.
Giuliani has already stated he doesn’t want the job. Has something changed?
Lol, that’s all far too absurd to even respond to further. And you probably don’t even realize why.
No. No. Never. Sessions wimpy on Russia, but better than the Gules on everything else!!!!!!!!
Immigration enforcement will tank under Giuliani. And getting him confirmed will be a circus given his business dealings and other issues.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
My concern exactly... and Rudy’s age and health. We need people who have the stamina and smash mouth gusto our President deserves.
What kind of immigration enforcement would we see from Giuliani?
I am long-done with Sessions. Almost seems like he was an "Establishment Plant" from the get-go.
For SIX months - NADA - except to leave President Trump hanging in the wind. Sessions, looking back, will be seen as the most responsible person, even over the libs and the media - from stalling President Trump and his agenda and leaving him open to a total, illegal witch hunt aimed at ousting him by any hook and crook means.
After 'we the people' gave Sessions 6 months of lee-way but then started expressing real dissatisfaction in his dog-paddling, what does he do?
He comes out attacking people using medical marijuana, strengthens the unconstitutional confiscation practice against citizens with no conviction of a crime and backs up the corrupt Feds against the Bundy's in Nevada.
How far down the list of things the AG should be doing are THOSE things? And are they even things Pres. Trump would want done?
I no longer have any respect or trust in Sessions. I'm beginning to think he was/is an Establishment plant...kinda like Shaun Spicer may have been, on a lesser level. (Was surprised to learn that Shaun S, who was an insider, had even pressured Priebus to cut RNC funding for candidate Trump as late as Sept!. )
The Swamp is dark, deep and slimy. Even more so than Pres. Trump was aware of. That comes from honest men not fully understanding just how much evil is really out there...and how easily evil people hide their true motives. (and BTW, I suspicion Mitch McC fits into the 'sleeper Establishment' crew. He keeps delaying the recess with this dragging out the health care reform bill - which Pres. Trump has urges to be dropped - just repeal OC NOW and then get a viable plan together later .
Is Mitch and his Establishment cronies cutting into the recess time to prevent Pres. Trump from firing/appointing recess appointments? Seem probable to me.

Tucker will soon be back to wearing his bow tie while acting like George Will.
Okeydoker just signed up here a few days ago and so just posting negatives about Sessions, and one about Sundance.
Thank you for your insight.
