3 Men Blocked I-80 Ramp Before Early Morning Carjacking
A report indicates three suspects carjacked a vehicle on the I-80 ramp to I-355 in New Lenox early Saturday morning.

NEW LENOX, IL -- A reported car jacking took place early Saturday morning on an expressway ramp. An incident was reported on police scanner traffic on the westbound Interstate 80 ramp to northbound Interstate 355.
Three men were blocking the ramp and asked the victim to use his phone before one of the men approached on the passenger side of the car with a gun around 4:35 a.m., according to a report from The Herald-News.
A Northern Illinois Fireground Photos Facebook post indicates the carjackers were three black men who were armed with a black semi automatic handgun at the time. They fled the scene in the victim's car, a 2012 grey Honda.

Would driving while armed require a concealed carry permit? Even with that, can you have a loaded handgun with you in your car?
When given the choice between being robbed and mugged or being safe, I’ll pick life.

What is amazing about this incident is the ramp is 2 lanes with shoulders. The ramp is constructed such that you wouldn't even have to slow down. The criminals must of used their car and their bodies to block all lanes and shoulders and forced the driver to jam on the brakes.
Driver didn’t have to stop. He could’ve run them over and risked being charged with a crime and/or shot by the perps. I’d bet there was no other traffic around when the perps pulled this. If so, driver could’ve put on his four ways and reversed down the ramp. Biggest problem is folks don’t prepare mentally for this cr@p ahead of time, so that if there are other options, the victim is prepared to use them.
That’s it. Man that is kewl!

I’d opt for “turn in markers” like they have at auto race tracks. Don’t brake until you get to marker #1.

I actually did that a few times in a city of about 60,000 with the police station a block from a freeway exit...
Was never followed all the way to the sally port... Never had to run anyone over. But it's a shitty way to live. I would rather have had the protection of the Texas law...
