Despite his recent criticism of Attorney General Jeff Sessions for recusing himself from the Russia collusion investigation of the Trump campaign, President Trump should thank Sessions for stepping aside from the probe that is drawing breathless media coverage almost every day.
Why? Because any investigation overseen by Sessions that cleared Trump and his campaign of wrongdoing would immediately draw criticism, due to Sessions role as an important surrogate and close adviser to candidate Trump. Democrats would complain that no matter how little solid evidence was found, Sessions would be acting improperly in clearing Team Trump because he was hopelessly biased in favor of the president.

I keep forgetting Jeff Sessions has been at this game a long time; much longer than me as a spectator.
He has all kinds of rules and constraints plus knows he has to make sure the optics are okay if looked at later on. It takes a smart cookie to be AG. I just wish some action was happening on the criminal charges against those who clearly broke the law in the O'muslim Admin.
Nonsense. Sessions needs to go. And the new attorney general should replace Rosenstein and Mueller.
Mueller is going on a fishing expedition and will find some BS from 20 years ago not related to Russia. And the media/dems will scream impeach.
There will be no impeachment but Mueller will give ammunition to the dem candidate in 2020.
Wishing that President Trump had chosen Rudy Giuliani.
I seriously doubt he would have left our President high and dry like Sessions.
Also cannot fathom/understand how that jerk Rosenstein—of Baltimore—became deputy AG. Apparently, he is the only one with authority to fire Mueller.
Unmitigated travesty of justice engulfing the DOJ.
If Giuliani was part of the campaign, he would likely have done the same thing.
It really doesn’t matter who does what in the Trump administration. The fraudulent media will continue to attack. When the Russia collusion conspiracy theory turns out to be much ado about nothing they will go after his financial connections and how the Trump businesses are profiting from Trump being President.
Surrounded by assassins, Trump is. And the media noise is at least out loud. The deep state and congress are much more deceptive and sinister.
“If Giuliani was part of the campaign, he would likely have done the same thing.”
Yeah, and I’m Ringo Starr
Trump is getting to know the enemy however he comes about doing so. He’s going to use any of this to his advantage.
Regardless he can’t get much done in the beginning with a bunch of insiders. No way.
The only thing concerning is how are people who are against him going to cope with all of their losses and humiliations after betting on Trump losing and that’s not a concern at all because they are not for making America great again.
They’re just ijuts
So win win
If sessions knew he had to recuse himself at outset, Trump could have appointed someone else. Sessions did Trump a disservice.
“If Giuliani was part of the campaign, he would likely have done the same thing.”
Recused himself? Not a chance.
If Sessions hadn’t recused himself there was nothing that anybody could do about it.
Sessions surrendered to the meterosexual libtards at the editorial board of the Washington Post.
I agree with this.
Trump has to survive this abusive treatment by the Democrats without getting aggressive. When it is finally over, the Democrats will have destroyed their credibility with the voters for decades to come.
What the Republicans attempted with Bill Clinton backfired on them and this RussiaGate witch hunt will surely backfire on the Democrats.
Trump must not use his authority as POTUS to fight back, he must tough it out and trust the voters to exact the punishment for this.
The Democrats deserve to be punished, but Trump can’t be the one to carry out the punishment - it has to be we the people.
“Because any investigation overseen by Sessions that cleared Trump and his campaign of wrongdoing would immediately draw criticism,”
Tjat’s a weak argument. Anything Trump does or doesn’t do will draw hysterical criticism from the Dims, media and nevertrumpers.
“Trump has to survive this abusive treatment by the Democrats without getting aggressive. When it is finally over, the Democrats will have destroyed their credibility with the voters for decades to come.”
That’s exactly what GW Bush did. That sure worked out well didn’t it?
What if Crooked Hillary won and Podesta was named AG? Should he recuse himself? Mook?
A new INTELLIGENCE LEAK from the Amazon Washington Post, this time against A.G. Jeff Sessions. These illegal leaks, like Comey's, must stop!

What if he didn't know?
-- Sessions did Trump a disservice. --
Are you assuming Sessions knew? Or are you saying that Sessions did a disservice, regardless of knowing?
I think he has to be aggressive, but within a range of action. He's doing that. We are seeing pushback on the scope of Mueller's jurisdiction, the bias of Mueller and his team. Trump and his team need to be in the face of the press and Mueller on those points.
Mueller has a history of using the full force of the US to ruin innocent people. He is not the unbiased guy the press says he is. Trump can ruin Mueller, he has the dirt.
AG Sessions, by recusing himself, avoided being totally misdirected to unending hearings and reports and defending himself. Besides that, AG Sessions is doing a lot of important, excellent work....especially in stopping and reversing the invasion of the US. Add to that, have you noticed, the leaks from his department are down to near-zero. The last ones seem to be from Mueller's vile appointees.
Stand by AG Sessions. I doubt Trump would've become President without his mentoring.
I agree with your point. I didn’t vote for a president of all people. I voted for a wrecking ball aimed at leftists. I want to hear them scream.
The Left will have a cow, but that's nothing new.
It'll blow over. Then things can have a chance of getting done.
Oh, I'm not sure about that. But I do find that Sessions is a very good AG, and that Trump's whinge last week was, if serious, out of line.
After Sessions was nominated (picked in November), and after his confirmation hearing (January), circumstances neinter Trump nor sessions anticipated, came to be. The campaign was accused of illegal activity.
It's up to Trump to choose OTHER players who are able to defeat the enemy in this particular battle. Sessions is not the only soldier in Trump's army.
