President Trump said on Wednesday that he never would have appointed Attorney General Jeff Sessions had he known Mr. Sessions would recuse himself from overseeing the Russia investigation that has dogged his presidency, calling the decision very unfair to the president.
In a remarkable public break with one of his earliest political supporters, Mr. Trump complained that Mr. Sessionss decision ultimately led to the appointment of a special counsel that should not have happened. Sessions should have never recused himself, and if he was going to recuse himself, he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else, Mr. Trump said.
In a wide-ranging interview with The New York Times, the president also accused James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director he fired in May, of trying to leverage a dossier of compromising material to keep his job. Mr. Trump criticized both the acting F.B.I. director who has been filling in since Mr. Comeys dismissal and the deputy attorney general who recommended it. And he took on Robert S. Mueller III, the special counsel now leading the investigation into Russian meddling in last years election.
Mr. Trump said Mr. Mueller was running an office rife with conflicts of interest and warned investigators against delving into matters too far afield from Russia. Mr. Trump never said he would order the Justice Department to fire Mr. Mueller, nor would he outline circumstances under which he might do so. But he left open the possibility as he expressed deep grievance over an investigation that has taken a political toll in the six months since he took office.

Is that Sessions' fault, or Trump's fault?
Actually, in his circle, Rosenstein was known to be an oddball with Republican views. But that goes against the imaginary meme that has taken over FR.
Agree.
Watch one of the Netflix documentaries on how Guliani took on the Mafia, and won.
That took guts.
Sessions acts like he wants to be Drug Tsar, or something.
They all know what they're getting into with Trump. He has a very public persona.
Regarding loyalty, it's about job performance if you've studied The Apprentice. Sessions wasn't performing at a top-level for a top-level position, at least not publicly. Hopefully, the others are motivated to excel at performance expected of supporting the President of the United States.

Sessions made the decision on recusal after he took office. He consulted with the DOJ legal ethics committee that recommended he recuse himself.
Sessions seems intent more on upping the ante on people who smoke pot than investigating known crimes by HRC, et al.
Is ‘trying’ too big a word for you?
Presently there is only evidence and not proof. But there is evidence, so there’s an investigation.
If the media had looked for evidence of other countries interfering there’d be a useful investigation.
I’m not sure what should be read into this. But I believe he is glad to have Sessions on board. There’s a piece missing here.
He wasted 3 months spinning his wheels and DACA, Clinton crimes, and voter fraud are still unaddressed
My take also......
Not wrong. I responded to a comment that Rosenstein is a "hard core Democrat" and referenced what Wiki said about him.
Do you always refute statements not made? And where is your reference that he claims no political party?
I was going to point this out because I haven't seen it brought up. He pretty much called Comey a blackmailing Mafia type thug .
Trump is a good man with great ideas, and an inability to restrain himself from saying thing that will negate all he is trying to accomplish.
Trump is going to pay a heavy price with Sessions resignation. It is catastrophic. Trump will feel the blow-back from this action. He is going to lose a lot of support.
Is the word “caught” too big a word for you?
So, what exactly were they caught trying to do?
What is the evidence?

Remind me, how many Special Prosecutors were appointed during Barack Obama’s 8 years?
The Dems can always count on Idiot Republicans that accept special rules that ONLY apply to Republicans.
Chuck Schumer says Boo and Sessions jumps.
Cheryl Mills, Susan Rice, Lois Lerner do whatever the F;Ck they want.
.
The Dems have been hammering for Sessions’ resignation ever since he assumed office. They fear him the most. Trump’s actions are reckless. He is going to regret these statements bigly.
Well you are certainly staying loyal to Jeff, but Jeff has been an unmitigated disaster and anyone except a loyal friend can see it. Nice man terrible AG.
To me, Sessions restarting the federal asset forfeiture program is contrary to the rule of law. To my mind, the government seizing assets from somebody who has not even been charged with a crime isn't justice.
and, I hope, much of the Hillary illegalities that many assumed could be ignored because : Hillary will win. State Dept curiosities too. What’s with Rex ?
