Trump Blasts Sessions For ‘Unfair’ Russia Recusal — ‘Would Have Picked Somebody Else’

President Trump lashed out at Attorney General Jeff Sessions in an interview on Wednesday, saying that he would have picked somebody else for attorney general if he had known that Sessions was going to recuse himself from the Russia investigation.

“Sessions should have never recused himself and if he was going to recuse himself he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else,” Trump told The New York Times.

Thanks, Ken. It’s a very clear statement.

Yet I still think that Sessions and Trump are close enough that there may be an ulterior reason for this statement. Some 3D chess.

Number one, this criticism paints Sessions as a totally independent agent as Attorney General. Trump reinforces that notion.

And it gives Sessions more psychological power to shake things up at the FBI and get less criticism from the Never Trumpers because Trump is supposedly at odds with Sessions.

Sessions is pivotal to taking down the Deep State. Extreme cunning is required here. I would be very surprised to see Sessions resign.

Sessions was to be a no nonsense, kick Washington establishment butt type guy ... so far nothing. My take on the guy is he's a bust ... and I've felt that way the last couple of months.

If this is true Session should do the honorable thing and resign immediately. He has lost the confidence of his boss.

I would expect that to happen today. Sessions had his shot but is only a B-, Trump needs an A+
