Trump Blasts Sessions For ‘Unfair’ Russia Recusal — ‘Would Have Picked Somebody Else’

President Trump lashed out at Attorney General Jeff Sessions in an interview on Wednesday, saying that he would have picked somebody else for attorney general if he had known that Sessions was going to recuse himself from the Russia investigation.

“Sessions should have never recused himself and if he was going to recuse himself he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else,” Trump told The New York Times.

If I recall the reasoning for the recusal correctly, anyone associated with the campaign, Rudy included, would be obligated to do the same thing.

HorseHillary. Do you think Holder would have?

I expect Sessions to resign before the week is out after his boss unloaded on him like that. Brutal!

Yes and finding a competent replacement after this public humiliation of Sessions will be extremely difficult. Then getting a new nominee confirmed without that person making a public pledge to act independent of the president will be impossible. In the best case, we will be looking at over six months without an Attorney General. We always have the current Assistant Attorney General who appointed the special counsel to fill in unless he resigns also. In that case, we are back to Obama holdovers running the department.

The good thing is that you have revealed yourself for all to see as you post never-Trumper, neocon and Hillary talking points.

Too bad Trump agreed to the Syria cease-fire huh? He must be a Russian agent! LOL!

Yeah, right. Recess appointments are for One Year. Next year you re-do the recess appointment. In that year you attack like a shark!

Nevertrumpers are by definition Hillary supporters, and should not get the benefit of our Supreme Court appointments, decreased regulations, record high stock market, improved economy and all the great things that Trump and his supporters have brought about. They should slink away, and join with their democrat friends in their efforts to destroy America in a globalist-run third world hell hole. In fact, I read recently that a good number of them are doing that. Why are you still here instead of joining DU with Bill Krystol and McMuffin?

Jay Seculow is very conservative on social issues. He used to be on James Dobson’s show a lot. Jay does not need to be tied down to those jobs, he is great where he is.

But if my boss did that to me, I'd have another job within a week.

I have to agree, unless it was planned.

Recess appointments are for One Year.

If I remember correctly, a recess appointment is not for a specified period of time but until the end of the next congressional session, or something of that nature. In any event, for a president to recess appoint an Attorney General, or any other high level position, while his own party controls the Senate would be remarkable. It is almost certain that if such a thing happened, nothing else the president wanted would get through the senate while that appointee remained in office. We are not talking about a reality television show, we are talking about an established constitutional government.

The president can appoint a new attorney general, if he desires to do so, as a recess appointment, correct?

Dear ehl,
Perhaps in your blind hatred you are confusing ruining with rescuing?
The President defeated ALL other candidates.
Are you saying those who voted numerous time to repeal obamacare are ‘conservatives’? I think they can be characterized as posers or phonies if you will.
There should be no such thing as ‘political science’.
I notice your list stops in the early 1800s. Are you living in the past?

I believe there was a Supreme Court decision during Obama's term that upheld the President's authority to make recess appointment provided the recess was for at least 10 days. However, just because something is legal does not mean that it is wise. I don't know of any modern day instance where a president has made a recess appointment when his party was in control of the Senate.

Trump needs to be careful, Conservatives are few and far between in very key positions in his administration.

The idealogical bent of a cabinet member isn't worth a hill of beans if they won't do their job.

“In a contest of loyalties between Sessions and Trump, southern voters will side with their president, guaranteed.”

Correct. I’ve lived in Alabama my entire life & I side with Trump.

I have always been a fan of Sessions & was proud to have him as my Senator. I am deeply disappointed in Sessions’ performance as Attorney General.

Obsessing over dopers, while giving the Clintons, Obama & other treasonous crooks a free pass, is unacceptable.

I thought Sessions would be a fighter. I was wrong.

Washington, Adams, Jeffereson, Madison, Franklin, Jay, Hamilton, and the list goes on, were not people who didn’t read books. They were not people who didn’t think about government. They were not people who claimed to know things without effort. Yes, we don’t want a permanent governing class. Nor do we need a fake conservative and life long Democrat who takes pride in his cynicism and ignorance and inexperience ruining the conservative movement.

You just had to go there, didn't you? Have fun over at DU...
