Something very wrong with the actual shooting sequences as we have been told. What officer pulls a weapon inside a vehicle and then shoots across the seat right in front of the other officer, through the door, no less. Something is really, really wrong with the picture presented.

There is NO justification for what this cop did. None. Not even "fireworks". Nope..

I sure hope authorities have seized Noor's passport.

I have read that police officers don’t like people coming to the windows of their cars because they are trapped inside and vulnerable - that’s what just happened to the NYC officer - she was posted in a stationary vehicle and a schizophrenic man shot her through the window.

Maybe Noor was nervous because she came to his partner’s window but he must have already had his gun out as she approached - pulling it out of the holster in a seated position should buy him enough time to assess a threat - unless he was panicked about the time it took. Supposedly he heard a loud noise that startled him, but he could see clearly that neither he nor his partner were injured by the source of the noise.

Police horses and dogs are trained not to panic at noise - surely officers should have at least that much training.

Otherwise, Sudden Jihad it is.

I've pointed out that same issue on other threads. He could have shot his partner instead. According to newspaper reports, Noor only has 21 months on the job. The partner has 1 year. Why would you put a less senior officer with someone who has so little time, and already has three complaints against him, not to mention a pending lawsuit? Bad decision making on the part of whoever assigned them. I wasn't a cop, but was a correction officer. When I started, I was told by more seasoned officers that you needed at least 5 years on the job to become fully accustomed to it.

The rookie cop partner may feel compelled to lie for Noor in order to save his job. I hope I'm wrong. No matter if he manages to keep his job, he'll have this hanging over his head the rest of his career. If his fellow cops can't trust him, nobody will want to work with him.

My hunch is that the officer is going to say that he heard what he thought were gunshots (fireworks were mentioned on the dispatch transcript), and then he saw the woman running toward the car. In his mind he put the gunshots and the woman together and perceived a threat.

I don't think I'd buy that scenario, as a cop should know the difference between gunshots and fireworks, but I bet that's his story.

Unless I saw a gun out and nearing use, I cannot imagine shooting across the driver at someone. Far too great a chance of putting a bullet through the driver if he moves. Apart from the noise of shooting from inside a car!

Did he say to the driver — just before he pulled the trigger — “hey, partner, watch your eyes”?
