I've pointed out that same issue on other threads. He could have shot his partner instead. According to newspaper reports, Noor only has 21 months on the job. The partner has 1 year. Why would you put a less senior officer with someone who has so little time, and already has three complaints against him, not to mention a pending lawsuit? Bad decision making on the part of whoever assigned them. I wasn't a cop, but was a correction officer. When I started, I was told by more seasoned officers that you needed at least 5 years on the job to become fully accustomed to it.

The rookie cop partner may feel compelled to lie for Noor in order to save his job. I hope I'm wrong. No matter if he manages to keep his job, he'll have this hanging over his head the rest of his career. If his fellow cops can't trust him, nobody will want to work with him.

“No matter if he manages to keep his job, he’ll have this hanging over his head the rest of his career. If his fellow cops can’t trust him, nobody will want to work with him.”

But he’s still alive, which is more than can be said for his poor victim. I just hope if he gets a pass, that there will be some “street justice” meted out to him.

That statement, in and of itself is a really sad commentary on our police today.
