White House Meeting With Primary Challengers of GOP Sen. Jeff Flake

The White House has been meeting with prospective opponents of Sen. Jeff Flake (R., Ariz.) in an apparent effort to put pressure on the senator, who has been a vocal critic of President Donald Trump.

Flake refused to endorse Trump during the presidential campaign and said he could not attend the GOP convention because he had to "mow his lawn." Now, the Trump administration has had meetings with at least three prospective candidates to run against Flake in the Republican primary, Politico reports.

Flake is up for reelection in 2018 and is considered quite vulnerable.

Politico reports that Trump has talked to Arizona Treasurer Jeff DeWit at least twice. DeWit was a part of Trump's 2016 campaign. White House officials have also met with former state Sen. Kelli Ward and former Arizona GOP Chairman Robert Graham.

Trump has vocalized his dislike for Flake. Trump said at a rally towards the end of his presidential campaign that he would spend $10 million of his own money to help a challenger defeat Flake in 2018.

Arizona is an open primary state.

No it is not.

But it is quickly being Californicated.

And in that same conversation, he could mention that he is contributing $100 million of his own money to a PAC to primary them.

Flake is a McCain apostle. Arizona needs to get rid of both of them.

We must stop re-electing people who betray us.

Wow, very tall task because it would take the next 100++ years to rid our Congress of these traitors. Elections are not going to fix what is broke with America.

IT IS THE VOTING BLOCK. They out number us now and need to be weeded out

How does that pressure Flake? Trump aligns himself with Flake's opponents then is Flake supposed to believe that if he starts supporting the President then Trump will switch back to him? Does he really think Flake is that naive? Declare war against Flake now and fight it out till the end. And hope you win.

All proof the 17th Amendment needs to be repealed

17th Amendment allows for a huge federal government

16th amendment fuels it

Something tells me they'll both be gone soon.

He needs to go all in for supporting candidates for ‘Republican’ Senators and Reps who are nothing but Democrat enablers.

All of the four we know who say they won’t vote for the repeal are not up until at least 2020 for the three twits. Portman was just re-elected. So, all are the safe Uniparty traitors to their show votes in the past.

The RINOs could be weeded out by Trump’s creation of a new political party. I have urged him to use September to go to the people and announce that the do-nothing Republican Party in the Senate has reached the point where only a replacement can save America. In March a convention could be held and nominees for Congress named. Money would flood in. The resulting split would bring the Democrats to power. But in 2020 the new party would sweep away the Republicans just as the Republicans swept away the Whigs.

The new Republican Party had the backing of the most influential media of the time, Horace Greeley’s New York Tribune, as well as success at the state level before national success. A new ‘top down’ party isn’t realistic.

Cool! I posted this yesterday:

It's time for President Trump to give Steve Bannon the task of putting together a primary strategy for 2018.

Incumbency has been so strong a factor to reelection that qualified candidates do not challenge a sitting Senator. Trump needs to shake this up by identifying strong primary opponents to incumbent Republican Senators and then holding rallies with them. The rally stump speech should be about sending a new team to Congress to work with Trump, and Trump wants the people of the great state of XXX to vote for YYY in 2018.

At the very least, this should put a fear of loss in the Republican Senate, so much so that they stop undermining Trump or else they will just be giving Trump more campaign fodder for additional rallies in 2018.

Start now. Show these GOPe Senators that they cannot stay complacent and dismissive of their constituents.
