If true, this is wonderful. Was my preference from the start, including the 2-year delay. Puts the election in the middle.
Wow - at worst, Republican voters get to find out who’s been lying to them, if repeal doesn’t pass.
If repeal does pass, and we work on overhauling the system in 2019, then we may well have a lot more Senate votes, making at least ‘moderate’ opposition go away. Of course people like Rand will oppose it again in 2019 if it’s a crappy plan, but at least the ‘moderate’ Republicans won’t have the power to kill it, if it is a good plan.
This may yet end well for us...
McConnell is stepping in the right direction after the GOP failed to dance around the issue. A straight repeal is the only logical move. Once Obamacare is off the table, everyone will want a hand in forging its replacement.
Better idea: Repeal now, effective immediately. Do not replace it. Claw back all payments made under the clearly unconstitutional law.
More than a few on this thread still seem to think that Obama-care is going someplace,
This is a positive step forward.
Make it happen.
The Senate should I Obamacare and then should stay out of health care. Ever since the government got involved, it has become a bloated, unaffordable mess.
We grew up paying cash for our medical bills, affordable for a family of seven in the ‘50s. As soon as the government stuck its nose in Medicare & Mediaid, costs went out of sight and fraud exploded costing more billions of tax dollars. Enough.

Get that message to Mitch @SenMikeLee
It's why Trump was elected
Time for Congress to get behind our President to #MAGA !— Slip Stream News (@GaryZPon) July 18, 2017
waffling till after the mid-terms so no one gets primaried.
Two years?
Primaries are coming!
Replace it or be replaced!
Maybe the Republicans finally saw the polling numbers and figured out how pissed the electorate is.
Brilliant strategic move.
Every Senator will not be on record. Trump wins either way, either they repeal or he can point to each and every reason why not.
Otherwise, if Trumpcare requires new federal powers beyond the scope of the Commerce Clause (1.8.3) as interpreted by previous generations of state sovereignty-respecting Supreme Court justices, then 2 years seems reasonable time for the states to ratify a Trumpcare amendment to the Constitution that is, should the states choose to ratify such an amendment.
Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States. Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
"State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress [emphases added]." Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]. United States v. Butler, 1936.
In the meanwhile, patriots need to make sure that voters have plenty of Trump-supporting candidates on the primary ballets for the 2018 elections. Then, when Trump has a Congress that will actually support him after the elections, then Trump may get what he wants on McConnells timetable, including a Trumpcare amendment to the Constitution if one is needed as previously mentioned.
Truly have been showing the whole world to see how gutless they are - how many times did they vote for straight REPEAL when they knew it would be blocked by Reid or stopped at the oval office desk???? HOW MANY?!?!?!? Now when the rubber will hit the road, so to speak, they are quivering under their desks because of re-election prospects. IF THIS THING CANNOT BE STRANGLED IN IT’S CRIB, THEN AMERICA WILL NEVER BE AMERICA AGAIN.
I thought I read that he was just abandoning the whole thing.
THIS, I could go for. The old goat!
If it is repealed, does the health care system go back to that which existed for 8 years under Bush AND 8 years under Hiliary’s husband?
People are gonna DIE!!! Just like they do today and every hour of every day.
