Texans rookie running back D'Onta Foreman, the third-round pick from the University of Texas, was arrested early Sunday morning in Austin on possession of marijuana and unlawful weapon charges.

The Austin American-Statesman reported that Foreman, who rushed for 2,028 yards as a junior last season, was arrested at 3 a.m. Sunday by the campus police department.

The Texans said today they are investigating.

The American-Statesman was issued a statement from the University of Texas Police Department that said officers responded to a call at 12:24 a.m.

(Police) "responded to a report of the smell of marijuana coming from three occupied vehicles near the southwest side of San Jacinto residence hall on campus," the statement read. "Officers arrived on the scene discovered marijuana in each vehicle and also discovered a firearm in one of them.

"The owner of the firearm, D'Onta Foreman, was arrested for Unlawful Carrying of Weapons and Possession of Marijuana and booked into Travis County Jail. Six other male suspects were cited and released for Possession of Marijuana.

"None of them are UT students and they are not believed to have UT affiliations." "We are aware of the situation involving D'Onta Foreman, and we are gathering more information," the Texans said.

No, i think you’re confusing UT with FSU.

These days, it's pretty much EVERY program.

“Seems to me he has a 2nd Amendment right to his gun”

Not when stoned and in possession of weed, even with a carry permit

Carry permit? What other permits or licenses or required of him by the Bill Of Rights?

They may have a right to bust him for weed, but not his 2nd Amendment RIGHTS.

If they don’t like it, that should be adjudicated with the Constitution. Not by some back-door “legislation” which would prohibit him of that right, which is given by God, and not by men.

I am not out a lot and I smell marijuana coming from vehicles a lot.. even just getting fuel. These kids smoke daily around here, then drive home. My own daughter told me it’s just like driving sober. BS and she had to leave home, even after being shot in 2016’ somehow she doesn’t connect drugs with death.
Because pot cures cancer. Just ask them they will tell you.

I also disagree about carry permits and the constitutional right to carry. I don’t support carrying while impaired though

I have issues with reports of the "smell" of marijuana..

..they did that to a college player a few yrs back in my locale...

..he was in HIS apartment, when the cop decided he needed to look in the window and decided that the guy had weed....a great big arrest but thankfully nothing came of it...

I am totally against pot and I think people are crazy for pushing it but this case sounds like a witch hunt to me...

Not a good start to Foreman’s career.

If there is one.

In TX you have to be really trying to get an unlawful weapons charge.

this is Travis County, which is Austin. One of the most liberal areas, so I'm guessing the weapon charge is a huge overreach and not going to stick. Esp for someone who can afford a decent lawyer.
