Idaho achieved a notable distinction last year: It became one of the hardest places in America for someone to quit a job for a better one.
The state did this by making it easier for companies to enforce noncompete agreements, which prevent employees from leaving their company for a competitor.
While its economy is known for agriculture potatoes are among the states biggest exports Idaho has a long history as a technology hub. And the new law landed in the middle of the tech world, causing a clash between hungry start-ups looking to poach employees and more established companies that want to lock their people in place.

Idaho has been californicated.
Boise is just another wretched hive of scum and villainy.
These employers have hurt themselves. Workers might not be leaving, but I doubt that new talent will rush to sign on with them.
As startups go elsewhere, Idaho could become a tech backwater.
The non-competes are workarounds to the at-will employee statutes.
But after obozocare and forcing vendors to bake cakes and do flower arrangements against their will this is just another domino.
“Idaho has been californicated.”
Oddly enough, this is one of the very few GOOD things about California. Basically, noncompetes are not enforceable there.

NONE of these noncomplete laws would survive a test by the Supremes IMO. The reality is that they are usually used merely for intimidation. Idaho’s new probably won’t survive such a test.
Went into Boise on Friday with the family. We can’t stand going there anymore and limit our trips to only a couple of times a year. Might as well be stationed back at Travis AFB again with the way the California implants drive.
Worked the tech sector when I retired from the Air Force and learned pretty quick how disposable the work force is. Reason we gave up Colorado Springs (also Californicated) for Idaho back in 2001 to work for the Air Force again.
Even our little burg is getting invaded by them. My wife went to get an oil change and the waiting room was full of California implants that didn’t like Boise because it was just like being where they fled.
“the waiting room was full of California implants that didnt like Boise because it was just like being where they fled.”
Did she tell them, “That’s because you’re here, you giant douchepumps”?
