Carter was a disaster as president. But he’s out there - at 92 - trying to help people. So I’ll give credit where credit is due. And credit is due here.

There was a very memorable interview that Barry Goldwater gave to Parade Magazine in the early Nineties and among other things he said that the longer Carter stayed out of office, the better he would look to history and to people in general. But I think that was contingent on Carter staying out of and aloof even from politics. Obviously that did not happen.

I went to high school in Americus GA, and was part of ‘President Jimmy Carter’s Home Representative Band’. Also at that school were the kids of Millard Fuller, the founder of Habitat for Humanity. One of those kids has worked for Habitat for many years.

I know your heart is in the right place, but Carter is no friend of humanity, no matter what he participates in on the side.

This is a man that gleamed to be beside Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, Manuel Noriega, and the leader of North Korea. He is also the primary driver for the agreement that allowed North Korea a green light to develop nuclear weapons and the missiles to get them to our territory.

He was very much integral to the Shah of Iran falling, which put all of Iran under a religious Islamic government. He helped set the stage for the Iran Hostage Crisis.

He helped destabilize a region that is a major headache today. Iran was our ally, and this friend of humanity helped end that. How is that working out for humanity?

Okay, he pounds a few nails here and there. All is forgiven?

Yeah right...

I think part of Carter’s problem was the Fed. I am not a fan, just not reflexively anti-Jimmuh. Perhaps our least objectionable, most honest living ex-President? Others here likely disagree, but I see the 2 Bushes, Clinton and O**** as possibly the 4 worst Presidents.

It’s tough.. all of our military who were and will be killed or maimed in the Middle East started with JC and his Shah problem.

I’ll give him credit for supporting Obama and Hillary, and making quite a number of slanderous remarks about Trump.

Habitat has always struck me as a vanity project, with its underlying purpose to help preening liberals to feel good about themselves.

Does Habitat actually "help" anyone? That might be arguable. I've seen evidence that some recipients of Habitat housing take on the same demanding, entitlement mentality as recipients of welfare.

IOW, those who have been "helped" by Habitat might have been better off if they'd simply worked hard until they were able to afford their own houses on the free market ... the way the most of the rest of us did.

Another observation - in my area, the recipients of Habitat housing seem to be 100% recent immigrants. I have no trouble with immigrants getting a fair chance at winning the prize –if they're legal and genuinely hard-working, and not on welfare. But here, if you're American-born, Habitat appears to shut you out.
