Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter received medical attention for dehydration while in Winnipeg on Thursday, where he is helping build a Habitat for Humanity home.

A Habitat volunteer told CBC News he saw Carter, 92, collapse.

Firefighters and paramedics were seen scrambling, and an ambulance was brought to the area.

Prayers for the second worst President of all time. He apparently collapsed from dehydration. Again, prayers up!

I have him as third worst, behind LBJ and Obama.

Prayers for Jimmy. He was head and shoulders over OBozo and has a more positive effect on our society.

Prayers to him. He is really amazing doing that kind of work at 92. He is an inspiration to everyone with his worth ethic.

A lot of memorials are going towards the party route. Look at the Irish...get drunk and say wonderful stories about the dead. Also many memorials are fund raisers for the persons favorite charity or to help pay the funerals. Funerals are not like the days where the deceased are in the home for a week and the family wears black for 6 months. Get with the times because it has changed big time.

I know your heart is in the right place, but Carter is no friend of humanity, no matter what he participates in on the side.

This is a man that gleamed to be beside Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, Manuel Noriega, and the leader of North Korea. He is also the primary driver for the agreement that allowed North Korea a green light to develop nuclear weapons and the missiles to get them to our territory.

He was very much integral to the Shah of Iran falling, which put all of Iran under a religious Islamic government. He helped set the stage for the Iran Hostage Crisis.

He helped destabilize a region that is a major headache today. Iran was our ally, and this friend of humanity helped end that. How is that working out for humanity?

Okay, he pounds a few nails here and there. All is forgiven?

Yeah right...

You’re absolutely correct about that. As I have posted here before, there were two obstacles to the rise of the Caliphate: the Shah of Iran and Saddam Hussein. Neither man was particularly nice, but each was an obstacle to radical Islam.

Carter did a favor to Islam by deposing the Shah. Then George W. Bush did a favor to Islam by deposing Saddam.

That does not make Carter - or Bush - evil. I see them both as very naive, and perhaps even stupid about things. But not bad men. As they say, your mileage may vary.

The IMF disagrees.

“House prices in Toronto and Vancouver have more than doubled since 2009 and the boom has fueled record household debt, a vulnerability that has also been noted by the Bank of Canada. “

Be careful about comparing Carter’s actions with the Shah with Bush’s actions against Hussein.

The Shah was our ally.

Hussein was encouraging people to carry out terrorism against the West and in particular the United States.

Hussein had attacked two of his neighbors before the first gulf war. He attacked two more during it.

As a result of the first Gulf War, he was put under restrictions where he could send his military. This was due to him using chemical weapons against the Kurds, and his proclivity to attack his neighbors.

He wasn’t honor the restrictions and was still voicing the intent to harm the West either directly or through support. He was paying the families of suicide bombers in Israel, $25,000 a pop.

It was argued that the Shah had a few thousand people in jail. Of course Carter deemed that reason enough to consider Iran under the Shah a violator of human rights. Never mind that those folks could have been bonified terrorists against the government.

I don’t think the Shah was perfect, but he was a very reasoned man with the West, and I am not convinced he was ‘so called’ abusing his people at all. Hussein and his sons were clearly abusing the citizens of Iraq.

Vancouver looks like China now. 90% of the new housing stock goes to Chinamen. They have flooded into Vancouver like flies on *h*t. The bidding wars have sent real estate prices through the roof. Another 20 years, there won't be any Canada left.

As a history major I would lobby for Woodrow Wilson in there.

I went to a tradeshow in Seattle in 1986. I overheard one conversation about the Chinese buying up Vancouver BC waterfront commercial property. I wish I could of been a player 😎

I think part of Carter’s problem was the Fed. I am not a fan, just not reflexively anti-Jimmuh. Perhaps our least objectionable, most honest living ex-President? Others here likely disagree, but I see the 2 Bushes, Clinton and O**** as possibly the 4 worst Presidents.

I don’t think you can separate Bush 2 and Obama. Bush 2 was at least as bad as LBJ on spending, and considering he promised to only nominate judges who were strict constructionists and then didn’t follow through, he was a disaster.
