The German Federal Government has estimated that family reunion rules will see Germany receive hundreds of thousands more Syrian and Iraqi migrants this year. The Ministry of the Interior announced that it granted asylum to 90,389 people in the first six months of 2017, and expects that Germany will receive a total of 180,000 migrants this year – a fraction of the influx of almost a million who the country admitted in 2015.

Already “Germans” comprise just 80% of the population of Germany, but the birthrate of the German citizens of Germany is well below the replacement rate, and the birth rates of the “immigrants” far exceeds it.
The process going on in Europe is the INTENTIONAL deconstruction of the culture of Europe.
If you go and split off the 1.8 million (roughly, from 2013 to end of 2016)...it’s around 450,000 that aren’t getting a visa to stay (yeah, you can imagine the shock for some of these people who felt it was a guaranteed deal).
There’s also a fair amount of talk that some Syrians and Iraqis will wait out the period of war and would prefer to return home after ISIS is removed. Those over the age of thirty...I think...are committed to that idea and only see Germany as a temp deal.
So you turn and here is this large group of migrant folks...mostly young men...from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, etc, without training or job-skills. They arrived with no plan A and just figure there are plenty of burger-flipper jobs. I’d give this crowd at best...a fifty-fifty chance of still being there in five years.
The final group are the immigrant type (from Russia, China, etc), and they have some job-skills or investment money for business chances. It’s a much smaller group and they might be the long-term winners out of this whole thing.
For Merkel, it’s just a big mess, with no wise management decisions or long-term vision. It’s a long decade ahead (and very expensive) as they try to progress.
Dilution is NOT the solution.

The West needs to stabilize Syria, which is simple. Stop trying to overthrow the brutal dictator who kept it stable, and the civil war can finally end. Pressure Assad to promise no reprisals. Then deport ALL Syrians back to their own country. No exceptions.

I don't understand Merkel's thinking about Turkey and Edrogen. With the numbers of ethnic Turks in Germany, is it real wise to antagonize them?

Erdogan has been this ‘dam’ of sorts...holding back the smuggler crowd, and keeping the Syrians/Iraqis crowd in camps. To avoid public anger....Merkel convinced the Turks (Erdogan) to do this for three reasons: (1) 3 billion Euro a year (roughly 900million comes from Germany but the rest from the 27 other members...which no one really audits this or checks on how the money supports the refugees), (2) the chance to join the EU (not something anyone in the EU supports), and (3) special entry visas (may or may not happen).
If you looked at Turk reaction in Germany....I’d take a guess that one-third of them are pro-Erdogan, and the rest are anti-Erdogan. The added feature is that Kurd-Turks in Germany dislike Erdogan a lot....so the plain Turks and Kurds aren’t really seeing eye to eye in Germany.
Because of the coup business....Germans who used to bask in the Turkish sun on cheap summer vacations...aren’t going. Huge reduction...killing off the economy along the whole southern coast of Turkey. Lots of hotels running at 20-percent capacity and tons of deals being offered. Same issue with Russians angry (different reason) and they aren’t going. Serious hit on Turk economy and more unemployment.
I won’t say the German situation is getting worse. Week by week....you have a couple of events that you shake your head over. Two days ago in my area...German cops got called at 1AM to come out to a refugee center (big fight). They bring six cars out (12 cops) and what they find are four drunk refugee guys. A dose of pepper spray and they got hauled off to the drunk tank....remembering nothing about the argument topic the next day.
The German majority was pro-migrant/immigrant up until 1 Jan 2016...then the Koln riot episode occurred. The majority then decided that thing was out of control. The political folks have been on some effort to correct things without admitting they screwed up. If you asked to rate the migrant/immigrant issue right now....it’s in the top ten but it’s drifted down from issue number one to issue number six or seven. It’s an election year and no one can really talk about this subject (its very obvious with two months to go).
