Rep. Brad Sherman (D., Calif.) announced on Wednesday that he introduced an article of impeachment against President Donald Trump.
Sherman was joined by Rep. Al Green (D., Texas) as a co-sponsor on the measure. They have both publicly called for Trump's impeachment in the past, as has Rep. Maxine Waters (D., Calif.). House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) has cautioned against impeachment talk, despite her own criticism of Trump.

Sherman's argument of impeachment is focused on claiming Trump has committed obstruction of justice regarding the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
"I am pleased that Congressman Al Green has joined me in filing Articles of Impeachment against Donald J. Trump," Sherman said in a statement. "We now begin the effort to force the House Judiciary Committee to hold hearings on Obstruction of Justice and Russian interference in our election."
"As the investigations move forward, additional evidence supporting additional Articles of Impeachment may emerge," Sherman's statement said. "However, as to Obstruction of Justice, as defined in 18 U.S.C. § 1512 (b)(3), the evidence we have is sufficient to move forward now. And the national interest requires that we do so."
He added:
Introducing Articles of Impeachment will have two possible outcomes. First, I have slight hope it will inspire an ‘intervention’ in the White House. If Impeachment is real, if they actually see Articles, perhaps we will see incompetency replaced by care. Perhaps uncontrollable impulses will be controlled. And perhaps the danger our nation faces will be ameliorated.
Second, and more likely, filing Articles of Impeachment is the first step on a very long road. But if the impulsive incompetency continues, then eventually—many, many months from now—Republicans will join the impeachment effort.

Actually Impeachment does not require any conviction of any crime only the level of such high crimes and treason. This is why the RATS have been throwing around the ‘treason’ word when they talk about the collusion and obstruction of justice claims against Trump. They the RATS set out on the path to impeachment of Trump long before he went into office. That should be the treason people get hanged for not this false claims. Hitlary should be tried and if found guilty her and her daughter from the other daddy, and the former president should all be locked up as well as the former POSTUS and his wife, Chewy.
Clinton was not convicted of any crime and was impeached but not removed from office. He was disbarred after he was impeached.
Impeachment takes place in the House and the removal of office takes place in the Senate.
One last thing, the Conviction clause in the Constitution is the trial put forth by both houses of Congress not by a judicial court. This is the differnce. Impeachment is a political tool.
I thought I need to clarify that. The House tries the President, if the House impeaches the President it then goes to the Senate for trial. The Senate then tries the President based on the Impeachment for the crimes s/he is alleged to have committed. The trial holds no weight criminally only that those impeached may be removed from office, banned from holding office again. It is not a criminal trial which is why Clinton never went to prison for lying under oath. The Senate can recommend after the trial criminal case but they hold no weight as would a criminal case tried by a judge would in this regard due to the Constitution saying that it shall not go any further than removal from office and stripped of all offices now and in the future.
If Trump had failed to fire Comey, he would be derelict in his responsibilities as President.
