In 2013, one storyline of the raucous and unpredictable Democratic mayoral primary was Christine Quinns bid to become the first woman elected Mayor of New York City. Then the City Council Speaker and the early frontrunner in the race, Quinn largely avoided talking about that history-making potential. Running as the continuity-with-change candidate based on her close working relationship with outgoing Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Quinn finished third in a crowded primary field behind the eventual winner of the election, Bill de Blasio.
As de Blasio seeks reelection this year, he appears set to face Republican Nicole Malliotakis in the general election -- de Blasio is a heavy favorite in his Democratic primary and Malliotakis became the presumptive GOP nominee after her toughest competition, real estate executive Paul Massey, dropped from the race last week.
I lived there for a number of years. My oldest son and some other family still live there, and we’re in town about a half dozen times a year (just got back, in fact) signs of decay from Bloomberg’s tenure already well underway.
The unions will destroy her before she gets a chance.
Is that she in both pictures??
Yeah, Bloomberg was already undermining the progress of Giuliani’s remarkable turn-around of the city. Kaiser Wilhelm has continued said decline. He absolutely must go this year.
Yes.
Good looking, Latina on her mother’s side (her dad is of Greek origin), female, millennial (37). A Democrat’s dream — except she’s the Republican-Conservative candidate.
NYC must be misogynistic
Wow, I’m guessing her skin turns olive in the summer.
